Anybody else waste ther money on the Cheap **bleep** Keith Urban Package ?! Very disappointed! Stay away
So far I have bought a PS4 bundle which is acting up and in need of repair already ! I dont abuse anything and treat them correctly mind you, also bought a Keith Urban Guitar for myself that cant stay in tune at all and is useless , the strings are all fine the design is flawed and the tighteners slip even after attempting to tighten! I swear my daughters IPod is the onnky thing that works i have never been so sad by a company, i could return it all but Its the point of why sell crap?!
I know this post is old but I’ll comment anyway for any people reading it int he future. Quality of HSN’s stuff is really, really bad. I’m sorry you got the Keith Urban guitar. I was tempted to buy it before I found out my account had been blocked from ‘too many returns’. The next day I went to a local Guitar Center store and they had one in their accoustic guitar room ‘used’ (they buy used instruments & resell them). They guy said they are the cheapest of the cheap. He played it for me and that guitar they are selling for hundreds of dollars on HSN sounded worse than any in that price range. Sorry, you got ripped off. I would suggest going to Guitar Center in your area, trying the guitars as much as you want (it’s their policy) & before you buy a guitar sign up for lessons – that way you’ll get a percentage off the guitar itself and you can cancel the lessons at any time if you don’t want to continue them.
Agreed. I had to return things because of innacurate sizing info on the item / HSN website, poor quality control in manufacturing, or you’re just not sure which size will fit so you get 2 and neither fit (again poor quality) so they blocked my account. No consideration of the items over the past 10 years that I did keep or the amount of dollars that were spent on the items kept compared to what was sent back – or looking at the amount of items that were sent back because of defects in workmanship….like you cannot get your long skinny hand through a sewn cuff that is drastically smaller than the other cuff on the the blouse…. HSN doesn’t care about that. Maybe they’ll care about the 385 reviews on Consumer Affairs where they only have ONE STAR out of five in ratings… but I doubt HSN cares.
Others just may be correct, Catlady.
I only have about 10 years at the guitar…20 years at the piano…and 40 years at dance…music…and music theory. My background is only from Performing Arts and Julliard.
I’m just trying to be helpful. Public forums gather people with all kinds of opinions. None are more valuable than others, which is what makes places like this so enjoyable!!
Whatever you decide…best of luck!!! :womanhappy:
Did I post to you? I guess I didn’t see it, LOL
I am sure Catlady understands there is a big difference between a Luthier and a guitar tuner, it’s like comparing Saks to Walmart. LOL. Since the conversation is on a different path and taking a more personal tone, maybe TAY is a more appropriate thread. Time is of the essence for Catlady and she got some good advice from my son, and of course, HSN_Erica’s offer to help Garbage9 will surely extend to Catlady.
Catlady, If you decide to keep the guitar or if you just want to talk music, go over to TAY and click on the Conversations thread. Sheba started the thread and she is well educated about music, as well as Steve who was in a band, and of course, my son. He is my go to when it comes to music. Me? I am the financial backer and stage parent, LOL!
Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck. Music is a gift. It’s like kindness, you can never have enough.
I wish you luck also Catlady. The germane thing is to find out about that string that won’t stay tuned. In addition…every bonafide guitar store has an employee who obviously knows how to properly tune a guitar. Otherwise there’d be piano stores with employees who didn’t play the piano…LOL.
I’d think a guitar store without a bonafide tuner wouldn’t stay in business very long. If you happen to find one without one…run for the hills!! Call me a person with a never say die attitude but…I think perhaps you needn’t worry about that being the case…
Anyway…so happy to see you posting wth me, Southern!!! Didn’t know you were so vested in music. You must be very proud of your son. I too have a musical background both in practice and technique. Don’t you just love it????? I played guitar for many years when I had my Fender.
I can’t remember, but…did you say you did or didn’t play?
Sorry…it may have been a post of yours in another thread????
Hi again Catlady…
Southernights is correct CatLady, in that guitars do need to be tuned frequently, however the App I told you about was recommended by professional musician friends of mine who have been playing for decades, and highly recommended this App. One of my long time friends owns now 100 guitars. He’s in the film industry in L.A., and loves his music and his guitars. In fact, you’d be surprised how many well known writers, producers, directors etc. are musicians at heart, and play the guitar!!! They love to jam at all the out of the way ‘dive’ places around Los Angeles, so when they give the thumbs up on anything music…I am there!!!
For your immediate question, it would be easier for you to use the App than to try to tune it by listening to Keith’s CD. Especially if you haven’t either played a guitar before, or have a good ear on your own (which many of course don’t). It is much harder to try to mimic the say, G string than to use the App which basically follows and ‘hears’ the guitar for you.
If you still can’t get that particular pesky string to tune, or if it is slipping on you…then I would absolutely take it to a local guitar store and ask them if it is an inherent defect in the instrument. I’ve lived in West Los Angeles for the better part of the last ten years, and there are great guitar stores that would be more than happy to look at yours, and tell you what they think it is…and at no charge.
If it isn’t the guitar, they would have tuned it for you at any rate, just trying to find out why you weren’t able to. Then you can use the App with more confidence than trusting your ear to hear Keith’s CD. My musician friends listened to mine after I used the App and said the guitar was perfectly tuned!! I only wish I had read about the other issues some are having when they did, but oh well…the local place here said to just bring it in and they’d be happy to look at mine for me. I’m sure a store near you would do the same for you. Music people are always more than happy to help other music lovers…
Wow, I have been trying to properly tune each of my strings on my KU Player and one of the strings just won’t sound like Keith’s guitar does in his CD lesson. It did not occur to me that I may not be able to tune this one string. I have only days to decide if I want to send it back. I have watched youtube videos where instructors say the guitar must be tuned up each time you play it. They go out of tune easily due to dryness in the air, dampness, etc. I can see how just bumping it would get it out of tune. I had no idea guitars were so high maintenance. This has been a real eye opener.
Garbage9, I am very sorry to hear about the issues you are having with some of your items. I see that the guitar does include a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty. You can call 800-248-3002 for more information.
I was unable to find an order for a PS4 on your account. Certainly if you would like to send a Private Message with the order number, I would be happy to see if any options are available for you.
