I’m curious as to how many of you wear wigs on a regular basis. I wear one occasionally and have a few dozen in my collection. Just the other day I wore one of my favorites to my local department store, and for some reason, it just would not stay put on my head that day, but kept sliding forward. I had to keep pushing it back as I shopped. I have lost weight, but didn’t think my head would shrink in the process. LOL
Anyway, when I got back to the car, I realized why the cashier had been looking at me so sympathetically and kept staring at me. My wig was all askew and truly looked "wiggy" by the time I got through shopping. She was probably thinking "that poor, old lady. She hasn’t a clue how silly she looks in that thing."
I thought it was more funny than embarrassing. Sometimes we just have to laugh at ourselves and not take life so seriously. :womanlol:
Any wig stories you’d like to share?
I’m worried that those green boxes of food may have looked very appetizing to the bears. (Actually she mentioned that she was having lots of trouble with her internet). But do be on the lookout for empty green boxes. That would be ominous.
I’ve never worn wigs in my life, but just recently have gotten into them. I recognize the convenience and ease of them; so, now I have quite a collection. I’ve purchased all kinds, from cheap to expensive. The cheap wigs seem to be of higher quality than the expensive ones.
My story is more about a frustrating experience than it is about a funny one. I purchased a Jon Renau wig a few months ago. His wigs are very expensive. But today’s wigs are engineered to be trimmed or cut to your liking. So when I received this wig, I trimmed the side bangs. Well, the bangs flipped up toward the ceiling instead of down toward my forehead. No matter what I did, I could not get the bangs to stay down. Naturally, I can’t wear the thing. I will never buy a Jon Renau wig again!
I also have a wig tip: If you have a wig that you like and to which you would like to add highlights, you can add the highlights with spray on color. I bought a can at my local beauty supply store. Just hold the can several inches away from the wig and use sparingly. It works great!
I’m sorry, but no matter how high quality a wig might be, I think you can always tell when someone is wearing one. It’s especially noticeable on an older person. Whenever I see an older female with nice and/or thick hair, I always walk away thinking "That’s a nice wig." I really don’t think anyone is fooled.
I wish I could get into wearing wigs but I have never been able to get one to look as they do on the model photos.I have a lot of hair so maybe that is why I can’t get them to fit right.
