When something is shipped UPS & Fed Ex it should remain as such, until delivered
When an item starts out being shipped by UPS or Fed Ex, it should remain UPS or Fed Ex and only delivered by UPS or Fed Ex, because Sure Post delivered by many unreliable dishonest U.S Postal Service Employees and Holiday fill in personnel always creates problems, and it is a basic fact since 9/11 occurred, the U.S. Postal Service according to Customer Satisfaction Surveys has always been less than desirable, less than totally hones, and extremely problematic.
(Even my USPS Depot Manager cannot tell me where my lost package is when I personally call him to inquire”. He states even using the tracking # there really is mp way to know what happened to my missing package, and he also states sorry, but best to decline payment and reorder the item, so get in touch with the Shipper and work it out. (That is lousy service especially if the item is scanned in as delivered and it was never delivered).
Also a great deal of of theft is prevalent when using Sure Post, as well as their lies that packages were delivered when clearly they were never delivered and Audio Video & Security Guard Surveillance does not lie.
I reside in a very large very Private No Trespassing Secure Development which has plenty of street parking available for guests, since many meters are installed and fully operational, and numerous audio video cameras are situated both on the streets surrounding my very vast Private Residential Development, as well as the entire Development interior.
Since the audio video Security Surveillance System is vast and fully operational 24/7, as is the highly skilled Private Security Team also on call 24/7 and patrolling both the interior and exterior grounds, it is very difficult for anyone delivering an item to my Private Development to lie and state they scanned it in upon delivery, and delivered it to the recipient, especially if they are not seen on the fully operational Audio Video Surveillance, and they were not personally signed in by the Security Guard stationed 24/7 in the Lobby Entrance, who always asks for a photo ID and has everyone who is not a registered tenant of the Development to personally print their name, and then in script sign their name into the guest registry Surveillance Book.
Yes, many have lied and either kept the item, lost the item, or delivered the item elsewhere, but if it visit into my Development is not on the vast Security Surveillance Tapes as being delivered, then it was definitely not delivered, and no one can lie and be dishonest when it comes to Surveillance Audio Video being fully operational 24/7, in addition to a Private Security Guard highly skilled Surveillance Team, unless they are really dumb and ignorant.
For many reasons I prefer receiving all my deliveries by UPS and Fed Ex, which offer fully functional tracking, and I really detest U.S. Postal Mail also referred to as Sure Post, for many of the above reasons outlined herein.

Redman, I pay $40 a year to have an upgraded UPS account, which means anything sent UPS surespost gets upgraded to UPS service, not US mail. You also can change delivery dates. addresses etc. for this upgrade. It’s cheaper than paying upgraded shipping on HSN.
I much prefer surepost because I have TERRIBLE service from UPS!!!!!!
I finally signed up to have my packages delivered to a UPS store instead of my house. However, even that didn’t solve the problem. Twice, once before Christmas and then just a few weeks ago, they claimed they could not deliver to the store. Yet, in the case of the most recent one, they could deliver another package for me there the next day. The lady at the store said they were accepting packages and not backed up all. In these cases, I end up having to drive 40 minutes away to pick up my package, even after several phone calls where they promised they would just deliver it to my house! I am beyond frustrated with their poor service.
I have received all of my surepost packages. I am very happy with the post office and FED EX. I am not a fan of UPS.

@redman1, yes holidays are bad for theft off of porches. I see a lot of local news stories with videos of people stealing boxes from porches.
Do you have a neighbor that is home a lot that could accept your packages.
If you work, some companies (and depending on your position), will allow employees to have packages delivered there.
Many thanks for each and every reply…….and it seems Holidays are when many expected deliveries are stolen most often and for me Easter is coming up, so I am a bit concerned.

@redman1, couple things, the 1st one may or may not help you now. I saw a news story about USPS going to have and in some states already have a program where you will be able to log on to their site and see everthing coming from them that day. They already take pictures of every piece of mail.
I understand what you are saying about thieves….that is a big problem. And I have had problems with not receiving all of my mail. Nothing missing from HSN so far.
2nd and I may get yelled at for this, BUT you DO NOT need to tip USPS or UPS or FED EX drivers. They make wayyyyyy more money than I ever made.
And for that matter I do not tip garbage collectors etc. There again they made wayyyy more money than I ever did when I was working. Now that I am on SS, I have even less money.
I realize a lot of this tipping was started on the East Coast particularly NY, but many of those people have moved to other states, and they carried this tradition with them.
And it really sticks in my crawl when some of these workers actually TELL the people on their routes what they want for Christmas!
Sorry for using your thread to complaining about something but in this case, I am trying to help you out.
I would think you could go onto USPS website to find out when this new program will be starting in your area. And maybe it already is.

Trekky, I’ve always been able to track my packages all the way to my door. I use HSN’s tracking number on UPS’s website to get the USPS tracking number. I can then use that to know when my package has been loaded for the day’s delivery. FedEx actually uses the same number as USPS so it’s extra easy to track their packages.
Last week alone two Surepost USPS deliveries containing jewelry didn’t make it into my house. After spending an entire morning on the phone, including an hour with the USPS, I was told that my Surepost packages were scanned at my house and placed in my mailbox. One of the days I saw the post office carrier place items in my mailbox and immediately went to retrieve them. All of my other packages were in the box with the exception of the Surepost. I always pay for expedited shipping which over the course of a year is a fortune…I had no choice in these two boxes. I don’t care how much I save in shipping costs if I don’t receive the merchandise.
I feel you snowcollector. Similar thing on my end. They claim the package from Amazon was delivered in my mailbox but it wasn’t. Thankful the vendor resent the item and had me pick it up at the post office. They also have a habit of not ringing your buzzer so they can give the package directly to you. The lazy thieves just tell lie’s on their scanners claiming an attempt was made to deliver or they claim delivery was made. They’re so lazy and uncaring that once they get into your building they leave your package on the floor in the hallway! RAGGEDY!! NYC’S USPS quality has gone down the hill.
UPS works much better. But sometimes even their alternative delivery person will leave your package in the hallway instead of bringing it to my door and I live on the second floor. Just raggedy! Now I have UPS My Choice and I pay that extra 3.50 to get my package to my door in my hand!! The UPS manager I spoke to told me to call them when a package is out for delivery that day and they will contact the driver and tell him to deliver my package directly to my apartment door and do not leave it in the hallway. If I can avoid using USPS I will. They are just horrible… and complaints online or directly to the manager of your home post office does no good. But, I have hope that all of our complaints about USPS to USPS and their loss of money will turn things around. Regardless of how good anybody else has it with USPS most of us are going through this garbage.
Thank Lizzie818 I appreciate what you typed in your reply, but to be perfectly honest I already spend enough money on shipping as it is, and just feel if the shipping carrier starts out as either UPS or Fed Ex , then it should remain UPS or Fed Ex, until the item is delivered to me by either UPS or Fed Ex.
I really detest all these additional options of paying even more money for shipping these days than what I already pay, and let’s not forget the tip I have to give when the item is delivered, because if I don’t I know the consequences of future items received in deliberate not so pristine condition.
Everyone has their hand out today for more and more $, so they get richer, while we as Consumer’s become poorer.
Also for returns using the return USPS labels it is a long wait when my item is taken to the Post Office and just sits there for as long as 10 days before the 2nd shipping agent named Newgistics gfinally comes in and picks up all those parcel select service return packages from HSN, QVC, Evine, etc. Then it is another long wait for them to bring them back to their Newgistics warehouse, and then sort them all out and place them on a very slow boat to CHina (pun intended) as we sweat and wait and wait for another long periood of time before we finally get our defective refund, just to have to hassle to get our full refund back to our original method of payment, because even though we enclosed and filled out the slip and palced it in the return shipping box with the defective item, which clearly says defective and refund both cirecled, (and I always add an explamnation I want a VIsa Bank Card refund and I always do that because HSN has in the past received those reasons for returns from me clearly stating refund back to original method of payment for defective item received, and yet HSN turned a=around and ignored all of that and mailed me a refund check via postal mail when it is unlawful to refund in any way other than refund back to original method of payment. I called HSN and read them the FTC internet order act which backs up what I said, and then I told them I am shredding the refund check you illegally mailed to me without my knowledge or agreement, and now want you to enact a VIsa Bank Card full refund for the defective item I already returned.
I really hate it when any Company decides to play God with my refund $ and intentionally violates the FTC Consumer Refund Guidelines Mandate, which protect USA Consumers from intentional deliberate cunning illegal Vendor Company fraud, and violations.
It pays to know the Law and what your Consumer legal rights are, and the Federal Trade Commission is clear as to what all USA Consumers should expect, relative to their enacted Internet purchases, and Internet item returns for refunds which should all be posted back to their original method of payment.
I hope this information you posted and I also posted helps others Lizzie, because it is a long wait for refunds these days, and many times one has to call to push to get them when they are not enacted on time and properly, as clearly referenced by the Federal Trade Commission.’s web site.
redman1, the reason HSN shipping isn’t even higher is because they use UPS Surepost. One way or another we will have to pay for the service we want. I’m sorry everyone else doesn’t have the good USPS service I have. USPS goes to every house every day. UPS charges an upgrade if you receive or send a package from a residence because they do not have enough business in those areas to justify a truck.
I’m not sure who you’re tipping, but it’s illegal for USPS to accept cash gifts and I believe that both UPS and FedEx have a policy against tipping. Since you’re living in a gated community, I’m assuming you’re tipping someone connected with your community.
redman1, I like the UPS Surepost for HSN because it saves me money; and I don’t have any problems with USPS. I work from home and can track my package all the way up until it shows it delivered.
If you prefer to have everything delivered by UPS, you could upgrade your shipping to Express Shipping when you place your order. Another option is to sign up for UPS My Choice on the UPS website. There are 2 versions–one free, one not. I have the free version. I get a notice whenever a package is coming via UPS but is scheduled to be transferred to USPS. It gives me the option to pay $3.50 to have the package delivered by UPS. If you sign up for the paid version, you can get the delivery changed without the $3.50 charge. There is even an option to change the date of delivery or choose a 2-hour delivery window. (As would be expected, those options incur more charges in the free version than in the paid version.)
