UGH!! I just accidentally killed a baby frog!
I know I’m going to sound like a crazy person, but I went out for a walk and stepped on a baby frog! I feel really distressed! I didn’t see it. I felt something squash under my sneaker; when I went back to look at it, it was a frog. I feel terrible. UGH!! I really feel awful. I didn’t even take my walk. I came back into the house, almost in a panic attack. :smileysad:
Awww! I would feel the same as you. :smileysad:
I know you are not to blame and it was just one of those things, but I do understand your feelings.
chimein, I know exactly how you feel. About six months ago I moved a baby frog to what I thought was a safer location on our front porch. That same day, a delivery person threw a big box on the porch where they never leave boxes and killed the frog. I still think about that poor baby frog every single day when I go out the front door.
You poor thing you!!! I feel so badly, but please don’t blame yourself. It wasn’t on purpose, and how were you to know???
I had an experience yearsssssss ago at a local supermarket. I was holding a bunch of watercress and asked the produce guy who was there putting out the daily produce…questions about the veggie. He began to tell me all about it…what it tasted like…how to use it…etc. etc. He then handed me what he thought was a better bunch of the watercress and we continued to chat.
I then looked at the bunch of leafy veggie I was holding and…lo and behold…there was a DEAD BABY FROG trapped underneath the tannish colored rubber band that was wrapped around the watercress. I looked…and looked…and looked…to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was looking at was real.. Sure enough it was a poor dead baby frog that had been at the wrong place at the wrong time and was strapped beneath that rubber band only to..die.
This happened a very long time ago (decades)…and I still can’t look at a bunch of watercress without thinking of that poor baby frog. What I can suggest to you, Chimein…although perhaps to just allay your saddness for what happened is this:
Perhaps the little thing was ill and didn’t have the energy to jump away and would have possibly perished had you not inadvertently stepped where you had. I say this not to be morbid in any way but maybe… just maybe…the little frog was sick. Maybe it was a blessing for the poor little thing….just maybe.
At any rate, know that it is normal for an animal lover such as yourself to feel as you do but you can’t be blamed nor blame yourself. You are obviously a very caring person. If you still feel as you do…although you aren’t guilty of anything and certainly don’t need to…but maybe go to a shelter and spend time petting the little dogs and cats that need homes or something to feel better that you have ‘given back’.somehow.
On second thought…I may not do that as everytime I ever have…have also walked out with a new adoptee!!!!
Bless you for your love for all the living creatures, Chimein… :womanhappy:
Dear: I couldn’t help but notice you made a comment, "I would kill to live FL," on the rheumatoid arthritis thread. You made that comment on a Saturday. Then a week or a few days later, you posted this thread about accidentally having killed a baby frog. It seems your "wish" has come true. You should never say anything evil or morally wrong, not even in jest. As you can see, you might not like the results. Be careful what you wish for.
Awww…come’onnn Grannyjez…not nice!!
Chimein is truly upset about this….
  ((((((Chimein))))))) …BIG HUG for you!!!!
p.s…we have a rheumatoid arthritis thread here?????…(shrug)???
