I love HSN but all these games with shipping are very annoying.
Bravo to them for introducing $1.99 shipping – of course, the price of the item subsidizes the shipping, but it’s palatable and feels like a deal.
But $5.20 to ship small items is ridiculous, especially when the high shipping price is used to inflate a sale price.
Case in point: I have been eying a pair of mittens with the very attractive sale price of $7 or $7.95, plus $1.99 shipping. Today, I got an alert that the price had "dropped" to $5 and decided to indulge. But when I reached the page, I found the shipping had been raised to $5.20! So the mittens ending up costing more at the "reduced" price. No, thank you! It feels like a bait and switch.
I have made many more purchases thanks to the $1.99 shipping and typically won’t buy an item with $5.20 shipping, unless it is heavy or requires special handling.
What do you think?
You are right on the money. There a lot of times where the shipping cost goes up when the price of a product is reduced.
I have also experienced where I saved more on a top on 40% off vs 60% off.
It is all a numbers game.
Apparently, I am the only one who is bothered by this. :catsurprised:
Good to know! I am an HSN fan; I’d just be happier if shipping was constant.
