Shannon Fox. Yes, she has her Doctorate!!
Check her out on YouTube and notice her voice is not little girl like as she speaks very well. Amazing! She dumbs down to be on HSN in my opinion.
Doctor Shannon Fox is a marriage therapist and psychologist who had a brief appearance as Commander William T. Riker’s date in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "True Q". She received no credit for this cameo role.
Fox is probably best known for her reality television show Love on the Rocks (since 2005), where she works as a couples counselor. As a licensed marriage and family therapist and expert on relationships, Fox has also appeared in several reality shows, news shows, and entertainment programs, including The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Millionaire Matchmaker, The O’Reilly Factor, Inside Edition, The Today Show, and Extra: The Entertainment Magazine.
In 2010 Fox published her book "Last One Down the Aisle Wins".
Educated or not…I cannot listen to her baby voice fake hosting. Possibly this is not her calling…to sell merchandise on a shopping channel. If this woman has that much creditentials, then why the devil is she on mire shopping channel and not out promoting her book or getting Hollywood roles??? Something is a miss on this lady than what meets the eye. I have not yet purchased any items when she host because I grab the remote to silence that blasted little baby voice…..ewwwwww .
This again?! This thread is almost a year old.
I find books enlightening, entertaining, and informative.
Hard to believe this woman has a doctorate. If I were her I would ask for my tuition back!
Most of the negative Shannon Fox threads have been started by the same poster within a short period of time. I still contend that there’s a learning curve involved here and that she should be given an adequate period of time to develop whatever skills she might possess.
Everytime someone begins another thread about how horrible Shannon Fox’s hosting skills are, someone (perhaps Shannon herself?) brings up her educational background. Who cares if she has a PhD or had a high profile past career? What’s relevant is her CURRENT performance – which seems unsatisfactory to many viewers who comment on this forum.
Mark Twain once quipped, "In Brooklyn, as in India, they examine a pupil, and when they find out he doesn’t know anything, they put him into literature, or geometry, or astronomy, or government, or something like that, so that he can properly display the assification of the whole system.” It would be sad to add HSN to Twain’s list. :-p
Hosting on a shopping network is a really, really difficult job. I certainly couldn’t do it. She’s still fairly new and on nights. Maybe we could give her a chance instead of being critical. Who knows what has transpired in her life that was the impetus for changing careers. Most of the other threads regarding this topic were started by the same person.
Sorry, haven’t warmed up to her. I feel sorry for her sometimes as she struggles to find words and falls into the habit of saying,"so, so, so,", pretty, soft, etc.Mmmm and uh..aah as she speaks slowly searching for adjectives. Check out the HSN talk among yourselves and you’ll find I am not alone in my assessment. She lacks sincerity, and I’ve never purchased anything while she was hosting. We don’t need another actress feigning sincerity, we respond to real woman and men. Where’s Anji Corley? Newer host, Helen Keany is down to earth and doesn’t talk over the guests as much, plus she’s funny! I am even warming up to Melinda Lee, but, sorry not Shannon.
This is just my opinion. All it tells me is that some people are not really interested in a prestigious career. They just want fame and to be seen. Someone who is intelligent enough to get through a doctorate program was making the rounds on different tv shows. She tried her hand at acting, that didn’t work. She was on different reality shows, that didn’t work; she bounced around on news shows as an expert, she didn’t get picked up. Dr Phil was on Oprah’s show steadily as an expert. Then he was offered a spin off show. She was probably looking for something along those lines. Now she’s on Hsn, which is good for her. That’s what she wanted, steady work as a tv personality.
