Red Queen Collection
Friends, Any opinions I’m curious what you all think of the cross marketing promotion? This is the 3rd 4th or 5th? movie event promotion.
I do find them interesting and have purchased an item on previous ones but was kind of shocked that with this promo they seem to have upped the ante on pricing! WOW on tv and online the bulk of items in the collection are $99 $149 + up $$$$++. I find that particularly interesting and somewhat disturbing. Cross promotion is fine -cool of HSN to get into it- but seems they’re pricing the market and viewers out of the event. Lil bit over the top. for me ..Really? Getting 2-3-4-hundred+ dollars crazy about a movie inspired here today gone tomorrow. Good for HSN & Disney-
I did buy the Elephant cookie jar a while backand still like it.
But just wonder what you all think? Did you buy anything?
I have to say, I loved the event because Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite stories. Same with Cinderella. Yes, I agree. The pricing was higher on these items. What I find interesting is that this time, they really, really pushed the movie. The movie received horrible reviews, yet one host actually said she expected it to be the summer blockbuster. We all knew that wasn’t going to happen. One thing I can’t stand about HSN is their constant hard selling. Now add “go see the movie, go see the movie” on top of that, it’s too much. Between constantly yelling “Hurry, it’s going to sell out in minutes (only to still be available days later) on absolutely EVERYTHING, coupled with selling the movie, it became overwhelming at times and I had to turn off the tv. I found it fun, though, for example, that the costume designer made jewelry for the event. I purchased one of her pieces. I think it’s a cool story behind the necklace when I wear it.
I also understand the higher prices if the pieces are limited or stamped Disney. For example, I also purchased Sharif’s Red Queen wallet. That image is clearly from the movie and the tag inside marks the movie. It was a limited edition and it sold out quickly. What I do wish HSN would disclose is the number in the edition. They didn’t do that with anything that I recall.
Many people love collecting themed things so for them it’s not a here today gone tomorrow.
I loved the creativity. I did buy some pieces from Heidi and Natori that are timeless classics.
If I was a teenager I’d have been all over the Cheshire Cat stuff.
Big movies always go nuts with merchandise in as many price points and places as they can.
If it is not for you it was only 3 days and that is more money in your pocket. :catwink:
No I did not, however I have one of Nikki’s pant sets and N. Natori’s dress in my favorites. When they go on clearance I will purchase.
