HSN needs a programming overhaul
In looking at the program guide for the next week I see almost nothing I am interested in. I find this to be the case more often than not recently. It saves me a lot of money, but it seems like the merchandise is becoming more limited and tired. Just an observation…..
It is sad. I used to shop HSN almost exclusively. I cannot afford QVC even if I sometimes see a product I like. I am shopping more and more elsewhere because of lost vendors here, less quality merchandise and lost benefits.
I just wish they could offer a choice as to which sort of department you wanted to shop from. I understand there’s a program om Roku for that, but I have cable…
Also, I feel insulted if they go on and on about fifty ways a person can use something, making some of the scenarios sound ridiculous just to entice you to buy. I’m not an . I can think of ways to use something myself… They will say; “Oh this would be a great present for your neice or the kid’s teacher or …. ” They might as well bring in a suggestion for giving it to the man in the moon! I don’t mind if they suggest actual uses for something out of the box, but to say- “Oh, and you can wear it HERE, or what if you went on vacation?” It all sounds so desperate and .
Just stick to the item, present it as best you can and don’t talk down to people. I enjoy some of the hosts who let the guest talk and sell their products themselves. Some of the hosts are nice and quiet with great voices. I usually but things when they are hosting.
AerynSun I agree. The feeling I get is that HSN is adrift. For several years they seemed to be cutting edge. Now it seems like a slow going out of business sale Not sure, but doesn’t seem right.
What I’ve really noticed lately are the hosts and vendors/guests do not give enough information or facts live, on-air about the product they are presenting. Clothing is the number one offender. TPTB – the powers that be – need to include measurements (chest, waist, hip, inseam, etc.) for the item being presented. It would reduce the number of returns they process. May even increase sales. Relying on the so-called specific garment size chart is not accurate.
Yesterday morning Guy was presenting the TS matress set, but he and the Rep failed to mention very important information during their entire presentation! And I’m sure one or two of these things would have sealed the deal as a sale for some people looking to buy: FREE in-home set-up, haul away of old mattress, move old mattress to another room, made in USA. There are a few others which I found very important to me. And I would have bought a set, if I was in the market for mattresses. Oh, and, this may sound , but not everyone knows it’s sold as a set – mattress and foundation. Yet, not once did either of them mention that important fact!!!
Hopefully, since they are now under the same umbrella as QVC, the programming will be more informative. Because right now when I do watch, I get the feeling I’m being pitched to by a creepy car sales person. Nope, not buying from them. Eewwww……
I agree, but it saves me money. The problem here is QVC is even more boring than HSN. HSN has stopped showing clothes and jewelry vendors I liked and have not replaced them with anything I would buy. It a shame, because when I like a clothes or jewelry vendor I usually buy a few items every time they are on tv.
Everything will change because of the company being sold/merged.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, did you say something, i must’ve dozed off….like i do when watching HSN as of late!
totally agree. very boring.
