Hosts’ Most Often Used Phrases
I recall Shannon Smith constantly saying, "The thing is…"
Mary Beth Roe of QVC often says the same thing, as well as the word "Literally…"
What are some other pet phrases most often used by the hosts when they’re presenting products?
Or maybe I should list phrases and ask posters to match them with the hosts. Each one has their own special style of presenting products.
That reminds me…Colleen Lopez oftens mouths the word "WOW!"
I kind of stopped listening because according to them me myself and I
needs everything! And,my long lost relatives, and neighbors ,too! etc.etc.
Buy this color and then any other color .
Flying out the door, will not make it to the next airing .
Well, another one that I am absolutely so sick of hearing is ICONIC!!!! Amy Morrison is a great one for this. Every other word is ICONIC!!! It is getting sooooo old and that is why I hardly watch HSN anymore, and I used to LOVE to watch the beauty shows. I guess using certain adjectives and phrases over and over again, makes them appear intelligent, at least in their minds!!!! An once again, we are entitled to our own opinions, before I get bashed!!
amy bravo lov. lov, lovs everything multiple times
I did not see where anyone posted this,so sorry if I missed it.
The one that drives me up the wall is get this for your gift closet.
..All these yrs and here I am with no gift closet.:womansurprised::womanlol:
Stop it. Both the Hosts and the Vendors use this word too much.
You can get this home for a 20 dollar bill!
You can get this home for ten dollars and some change!
If it is and some change, can I pick how much change? LOL
Example, I would rather pay 10.01 vs 10.95. :smileylol:
Did Shannon Smith just say "house halitosis?" What the ….???
Oh, how I wish Shannon would STOP saying "GOBSMACKED!!"
Truthfully I quit using HSN live shows a long time ago (rarely purchase an onlne item now). Occasonally I will be scanning the channels and stop there momentaarily and boy have they changed from what they were just a few years ago. The hosts used to be charming to watch, and they explained products very clearly (Bobbie Ray, Kathy Wolfe, Colleen, all the older hosts). I watch it for a second or two and wonder "what was I thinking spending so much money back then" There are plenty of other online stores who get your product to you in 2-3 days where HSN stalls around and it was taking 10 days to get an order the last time I ordered. I finally called it quits (again, an occasional order on website for something I know I like). Sad to have seen the TV version go downhill. The new hosts are silly, and so full of themselves. HSN used to have standard go-to clothes I bought often but now it is designer this and designer that..
Just know this is going to sell out…with emphasis on "going"
I am tired of hearing how these hosts say they use EVERYTHING when it comes to cosmetics. No matter what the item is…they use it every day. Let’s be real, if they actually did use all the cosmetics they sell on a daily basis they would be in the mirror all day and have a seven inch layer on their faces. I worked in cosmetics sales for many many years, and understand that they have to sell these products, however can’t they be a bit more real about it. I have really noticed a change in their selling techniques over the years. They are coming across more fake and phony than they did years ago. It’s as if they are in competition for who sells the most.
I don’t understand WHY a particular hostess continually uses the word "this little jacket, this little blouse, these "little" shoes…" etc etc etc. I’m very petite, yet, many of my family and my friends are NOT "little". It wasn’t until one of my sisters pointed it out regarding the much overuse of the word "little…" A very close friend (she’s a size 2X) said the overuse off the word "little"… is a turn-off and refuses to make any purchases through said hostess. :womanfrustrated:
I HATE it when a host says this about an ‘older’ static item in comparison to the ‘newer’ static item: "It’s what every [so and so] wants to be."
UGH!! NO, the item doesn’t want to be the other item because it’s an object and it doesn’t think or have feelings. That phrase it WAY overused, AND it sounds absurd!
