Horrible: HSN and Commenity Bank
Last week I made a rather sizable purchase and within minutes cancelled because I realized I got caught up in the hype, so I cancelled. Commenity actually held my money for an entire week so that the would get the interest charge. How deplorable that people behave this way. This is not the first time this has happened.Shame on both HSN and their bank card practices.
My goal is to get my HSN account balance down to zero–and then not use it anymore.
Since you cancelled right away, your card was never actually charged. Since the Commenity cards are credit cards and not debit cards, your money was not being held. A portion of your credit line was being reserved, but there should be no interest tied to a hold that was never turned into a charge. This is not unique to the Commenity cards. If you had nothing else on your card and were still charged interest, I would contact Commenity about it. If you had a balance before the transaction, there should be a section on your statement that will tell you the balance on which the interest was charged.
It most definitely was charged. I monitored the transaction just to make sure. I also called Commenity a couple times and they even said that the money would not be put back into my account until the 19th. The purchase and cancellation was on the 12th and the interest was on the 18th. They are totally unethical. I have been with HSN for many years and have seen their decline. I am pretty angry this time and wanted to vent. Just a heads up to let others know to be aware.
