Finding the Right CarryonLuggage
So I have been on a hunt for cute/practical carryon luggage that will work on all airlines. Who knew how hard this would be. I like having four wheels. I am really liking hardshell luggage because it keeps me from over packing. I am basing my search based on United’s specs (14 x 9 x 22).
The following are two large:
Heys (Such as the ones QVC carries)
I actually picked up a cute hardshell suitcase that said it was made by Nicole Miller at Ross. I knew the liner looked familiar. Turns out it was a Samantha Brown piece. Cute but way too wide.
If I was flying on Southwest, this wouldn’t be a problem. They allow large larges pieces (16 x 10 x 24).
The hunt continues…I may have to settle with soft sided, but even Samantha Brown’s soft sided TSV is too large for United.
Here is what Delta Airlines has on their website..pretty similar to United Airlines. :womanvery-happy:
Carry on baggage size requirements
It won’t fit. Three words you don’t want to hear when trying to board. To avoid delays and possible checked bag fees, follow these size requirements.
1. Baggage may not exceed 45 linear inches in combined length, width and height, including any handles and wheels, with the exception of small musical instruments that fit in the overhead compartment space or under-seat space available at the time of boarding
2. Baggage must fit easily in the Carry-on Baggage Check (approximately 22 by 14 by 9 inches, which is located near the check-in counters
Passengers traveling on Delta Connection flights, and only those flights with fifty seats or less, are only permitted to carry personal items on board the aircraft due to limited overhead space. Personal items must be able to fit securely under the seat in front of the passenger. All carry-on bags within Delta’s size restrictions will be gate checked, free of charge, during the boarding process and returned upon deplaning. Please ensure that a pink Gate Claim/Planeside tag is securely attached to the carry-on item. Assistive devices are not subject to this restriction. Most are pretty close to this.
I am having the same problem with united. I like to take carry on and do put it above my own seat. I travelled for the last few years with Samantha’s first luggage dr bag combo and loved it. Now United has restrictions that none of her luggage matches. The hard shell carry on says 20" in descriptions but specs have completely different dimensions so didn’t order when it was on sale. And now the price is $50 higher than sales price even though the ombré only went up $10 from ts pricing. Looks like international carry on dimensions work for united. Wish Samantha would make a set for these restrictions because I love her system.
I’ve been wanting to try the hardshell.
I travel for business, and I wish the airlines did not allow carry-ons, just small tote bags. I encounter the rudest people at the airport.
I think it’s rude for travelers to place their luggage in the bins above the seats towards the front of the plane while their seats are way in the back. I’ve witnessed this so many times. Then the people in those front rows don’t have a place to put their luggage. I also don’t like when travelers take it upon themselves to move people’s luggage around to fit their overstuffed carry-on that shouldn’t have made it inside the plane in the first place.
Ok off my soapbox…
