Ebay and Poshmark sellers
Does anyone on here sell stuff on ebay & poshmark?
Which site do you like best?
I would really like to start unloading some of my older things that I no longer have use for…mostly jewelry, footwear, and clothing that I have never or barely worn.
2nd attempt to post here. Interesting to read these ideas.
An elderly relative has a fur, and asked me how to sell it.
Would anyone have any ideas for a site?
If the coat/jacket was made for her, contact the place she bought it from. I have sold fur coats back or had a different style made from the pelts back to the furrier who made them in NYC in the fur district. You might look into the NYC fur district especially if the coat is Sable or a sought after type of mink. You can generally tell if a coat is custom made by looking at the hem, sraight corner at the opening is not, rounded at opening is usually custom made. You might also might look at The Real Real, it’s super easy and they authenticate everything before selling. The only other thing I can think of is putting an online ad in cities like NYC,Boston, Chicago etc where people still wear a lot of fur.
I just looked for furriers in Cali and there are a lot. The one which has great reviews for consigning is Bizakis Furs but I’m sure there are many to choose.
@Velveteen, thanks so much for the great suggestions. I will have some to offer up now. Yes, she now lives in AZ, so no need for it anymore.
Thank you both for the input!
I really appreciate the time you took to answer my question. For now, I’ll probably just hang onto my clutter and continue shopping ebay and poshmark. Selling seems to be too much of a hassle for me right now.
If you have high end shoes like Louboutin, Blahnik, etc contact The Real Real. Super easy, they arrange for pick up then sell for you. I have sold a couple of pairs of shoes and 2 dresses and got about 75% of retail. They pretty much only take designer brands though. The more pristine the condition, the higher the price.
I’ve been a Posher for 1.5 yrs now. The main difference between between the two is ebay you post that that’s it. On Posh you post your item, then when a Posh Party comes around…you get notifications of a theme, like “everything kids”, or “plus size, etc…you share your posting to that party. For example: you have a pair of jeans you posted, a jean party is going on, so you tap the like icon at the top of your jeans listing…it looks like a squared recycling icon, and now your listing is added to the party. Otherwise, your listing is still on Posh, but for folks shopping for just jeans, and go to the party your listing won’t be there. It’s like when you tap on clearance on here, if an item wasn’t added to the clearance bin you wouldn’t know it was on sale. JUST KNOW, Posh charges $2.95 pet sale under $30, after that you pay 15%. It’s a consignment store. So even if you never sell anything, and only shop, know most Poshers prices are based on that. If an item is $5, they only make $2.05, so be mindful not to haggle. I’ve had so many $3 offers for a $5 item; I would make a NICKEL. I’m ane1want on there. Be careful with bundles people may make of your itemsand offer a fair price, any weight over 5lbs you pay for. It ships priority, so it ain’t cheap.
I can only speak for Ebay, but that’s because I’ve been a member for about 20 years. Never signed up for Poshmark since I hate creating new site logins unless I have to.
Look for same/very similar items under sold listings to see what they’ve been going for. Most “ordinary” things won’t be worth bothering with. Brands are usually important. After I lost weight, I sold off my 2X Quacker Factory DreamJeannes. Right now, the shorts and cropped/pedal pusher lengths can bring in more than the full length.
Compare the fees for both sites and Paypal or whatever payment processing method you plan to use. The person who bought my last item paid $17 for the item and shipping, but I ended up with only $5.40 in my pocket.
