I wonder What Has Prompted this Big Resurgence in Coloring Books? They are frequently on all of the channels. As a child I Loved crayons and coloring books. I guess children still love it? Perhaps adults also indulge?
It is a little odd that it is now So popular after all these years.
I have been wanting coloring books for years. For relaxation. It’s just finally somebody thought to make them for adults.
My Wife and I find its a nice and needed break from technology
We are therapeutically relaxing right now with flowers
The resurgence in coloring books for adults is as I have been reading and hear from some physicians they are recommending it as therapy. With all the stress and hurry hurry in today’s world the brain is constantly on overload and a study was done that has shown that coloring helps with stress and anxiety. It is not about the finished picture but the enjoyment of coloring the pictures. The books they have out now are beautiful. As a child I loved coloring also. I recently purchased a book at a craft store that has primitive whimsical cat pictures in it. The pictures are very intricate and I am really enjoying doing this in the evening to wind down and find it very relaxing. When I first heard about it I thought of big childish pictures but when I saw some of the books out there I was amazed at all there is to offer. Mandelas, mosaics, intricate animals & all kinds of stuff. JMO 🙂
Be creative. If the thought of a coloring book is offensive to you, why not change the format.
(1) Trace the design or elements of it and transfer to another type of paper.
(2) Stablize the back of a page with cardstock (it can be used, no one will see the back anyway). then, cut it out or use chalk to inhance it.
We do this all the time with die cuts
.(3) Imagine’cutting colors’ for the page designs in a coloring book using ink, crayons, color pencils etc.
(4).Use color paper and piece the design together. All you need to do is make one or more photo copies of any page. Then color in I personally like to use chalk and color pencils.(no wet paper.
(5) Once you’ve finished, stablize the back
,(6) Cut pieces or the page and make a card element or for a scrapbook page.
COLORING BOOKS ARE ADULT FRIENDLY. THEY ARE NOT JUST FOR CHILDREN. I’ve been using them for years hOW MANY REMEMBER YOUR PARENTS HELPING YOU COLOR AND HTEY ENDED UP BY COLORING THE ENTIRE PAGE. dID YOU NOTICE THE PLEASURE IT GAVE THEM.??. Mine are from $1 or less stores and I use them just as I’ve described. Been doing this for years.
Think outside the box Enjoy. God is Love
sadly I think most adults today are so busy trying to get by that most do not have any real outlet for their artistic creative sides- I feel that artistic expression is very important to the soul and there is an imbalance when not expressed at all- adult coloring seems to be a working band-aid for this. My 73 yr old mother is totally into this coloring thing. It really brings her joy and peace.
most schools in the US have cut out art programs in the schools- this is a big mistake
and yes, many kids still love it too!
