ARE HSN CUSTOMERS THAT STUPID?
First of all I know there are going to be replies from people who’s going to think that they are smarter than some of us so it doesn’t matter to me and some others but my biggest concern is why does HSN or HSN 2 always stop in the middle of the presentation and tell the customers that you had better hurry up because we are about to sell out of this item and then the next day or the next few days they are still saying the same thing about the same item? We get it, you’re freaking lying, heck you’re still trying to get rid of a tablet that they said was sold out at Christmas and we would never see them again and the biggest problem with that item, according to customer complains most customers sent them back for the same reason, it was a piece of junk and they refused to fix them and wanted to charge you to send them back because it was over 30 days but that was part of the try it for 30 days or free return if you did like it.
I think there is a similar thread somewhere in the forums. HSN CANNOT help it if people put items in their carts without purchasing or purchase them only to cancel the same day. By the way this happens on ALL of the shopping channels.
THEY SAY that if it’s in your cart it’s NOT PURCHASED yet and BE SURE to check out to confirm your purchase !! This ploy turned me away from all c hannels for years…the hype…HURRY ! ONLY "x" left, GET IT NOW ! Too much for me. MY SISTER , on the other hand, got wrapped up in all of the enthusiasm (i.e. AMY!) and purchased items almost exclusively in beauty, colors are misrepresentation of item resulted in MANY UNOPENED RETURNS (obvoius wrong color, etc or part 2 of a 3 part system ….NOT MENTIONED, BTW, ) or waterproof NOT item, multiples in variou colors or sizes, returning the wrong one ( shoes 1x, clothinig 2-3x) AND THEY BARRED HER !!! Cest la vie, shes loving the Q at the moment. Im avoiding whst i cant see locally or can resesrch far in advance
In think they allocate by program and the "nearly sold out" is TH A T show.
Cutiesmom is correct…all shopping channels do this.
HOWEVER…at the Q? If you don’t check out within I believe an hour… the item is automatically taken out of your shopping cart and put into ‘Save for Later’. The item is then also immediately available for purchase to whomever may want to order it. Of course you also take the chance of losing your things in ‘Save for Later’ as they may truly sell out in the meantime. If in fact, the item ‘is’ still available when you decide to purchase…all you have to do is click to ‘buy’ and it’s sent back into your shopping cart so that you can ‘check out’.
This cuts down on people being able to ‘tie up’ an item for the rest of the day…while someone else sees that it is "Sold Out"… only to see the items as ‘available’ again the next day.
If I’m not mistaken, here at HSN…you have until I think midnight in order to cancel things. Unfortunately many people use this practice to see if at the end of the day…they still want to buy the item, or…have perhaps taken the allotted time to watch other presentations in order to purchase something else they may want instead.
It seems to be a kind of double edged sword in that…while advantageous to the buyer to be able to ‘hold’ things until midnight…it really becomes unfair to the person who truly wants to purchase that item, and…to actually ‘check out’ so that their purchase is complete!! :womanfrustrated:
I have found that there are things in my shopping bag, I go to finish the transaction and am told that the item has sold out. Being in your shopping bag does not seem to hold the item for you. The only way to hold it is to purchase it then you have until midnite to cancel the item is what I am told.
That’s what I said…that. ‘you have until I think midnight in order to cancel things.’
HSN gives you until midnight to definitively ‘cancel’ a purchase. ‘Some’ customers use this method to ‘save’ things until that time in order to decide whether or not to allow the purchase to stand. It is why Chippy… the poster of the thread…thought HSN was not being truthful.
My singular point was to only explain why items may have shown up as ‘available’ the next day, and not that HSN did anything wrong. If it has been taken out of your shopping bag, then someone else ordered it. If you had checked out…then you still had until midnight in order to cancel. I guess according to HSN it is in essence still being ‘held in cue’ until after’ midnight.
At the "Q"…things are automatically taken out of your shopping bag and put into ‘Save for Later’ WHETHER OR NOT the item is sold out. You in fact receive a notation when you put things into your cart…something to the effect that items not purchased within an hour will be moved into the ‘save for later’ Sorry if it was misunderstood
As an aside…I’ve also lost things that sat in my cart too long. And…I also was able to cancel a checked out purchase that I honestly decided against after reading the reviews (which I should have done before ordering)…because it was before midnight on the same day.
On the other hand I have also had one purchase I tried to cancel only minutes after I ordered it…only to receive a message that I was unable to… but that was on the Lancome TS months ago because apparently those orders go directly to the Lancome shipping outlet (or whatever it’s called). However in that case…I called HSN first thing the next morning and they apologized, explaining ‘why’ that happened and were as usual…exceptional in their telling me to just return it…no charge.
You missed my the rest of my sentence which was the point of my post…
The only way to hold it is to purchase it then you have until midnite to cancel the item is what I am told.
My post had nothing to do with HSN having items in stock the next day.
You’re very welcome !!
I’m sorry it was misunderstood :womanhappy:
I think part of Chippy26’s comment concerns the ‘Hosts’ Tactics’ to Sell. If so, I agree.
Some hosts use the majority of the presentation to emphasize a false Urgency to buy the item and buy it Now! … Yes Shannon, I’m looking at You.
… " We only have 200 of the blue, but 120 people are on the phones .. Now, we are down to 75 in the purple". …. Giving a Play by Play is senseless, tacky and it makes the hosts (Shannon) sound like an idiot.
"You see that price? .. That price is good for This show and for This hour only.". . Days later the Same item is being presented at the Same price.
So, Stop trying to push people to the phones with Silly lies and indifferent truths. Yes, other channels give quantity updates, but Not Play by Play updates sprinkled with Lies.
You’re all dancing around the question, when it’s an easy answer…Yes, they are.
Speaking of stupid customers, I can’t figure out why people are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for earrings or rings designed with clusters of diamond chips or single cut diamonds. Single cut diamonds and diamond chips have very little value. They really should only be used as accent stones. Lots of people buy that jewelry, thinking they’re getting bargains. They’re NOT. They’re just foolish enough to think diamond chips have value.
In my case on many occasions an item I wanted was sold out pretty quick and I was totally
I am a customer and will continue to be a customer and NO, I AM NOT STUPID:smileyvery-happy:
I went back to resurrect this thread and don’t know why.
I received my package from Hsn today. But instead of a program guide, I got a flyer with an offer to purchase geico insurance. Huh? Why is Hsn pushing geico insurance?
Yes, the thing that bothers me most about HSN is their ridiculous hard sell. Every item they insist will not last long and that they don’t expect to last the hour or until the next airing. It becomes so ridiculous that you truly can’t properly access when something actually will sell out until it’s too late. It makes the network look and feel shady to me and, in my opinion, has far more to do with sales tactics than customers and their shopping carts.
