On Sept 3 I had a massive email (over 400) to my email account. I just happened to check my order status here and found out that someone had charged $1000 apple lapbook to my account. They had gone in and changed the ship to bill to addresses. I immediately cancelled the order and notified HSN. My credit cards were cancelled. I decided that the email dump was to keep me from noticing the email verification of the order. My HSN account is an automatic log on. I changed the password which I now have to input when I log into the account. It has been a horrendous experience as I at first thought someone had hacked into my computer so it’s been an all day thing, contacting bank, credit reporting bureau and all other accounts. It has been a learning experience and I will no longer have automatic log ons to any of my accounts. It was just so convenient since we all have so many accounts and so many passwords to remember. Just wanted to pass this on so no one else runs into this problem
Thank you ALL for sharing ! We were just talking about scams on another thread. Scams and hacking are becoming more prevalent. As I mentioned in the other thread, ABC’s = Always Be Cautious !! I know your experiences will educate others on being more alert and more cautious!
Again, thanks for sharing so that we can all be more aware and proactive.
I don’t have any passwords saved on any of my accounts. Plus-after I place an order I go back into my account and delete what card I have used. So my credit accounts HSN etc. show no payment cards.
robinsky, I found your post very interesting, And yes, I would get the police in on it.
I don’t have any of my passwords saved on the computer. I have a booklet that I keep all info in and if I can’t recall a password, I just look in book.. It’s really not a big deal to have to do this.
If you have people with you, then just hide the book.
I had someone use my QVC account to order something,They used another credit card than mine so I wasn’t out any money .I tracked the address they gave to a trailer next to the junkyard in town here. There have been people working on the house next door and I think they hacked our wifi and got info that way.I did have my log in set up like yours, changed my password notified QVC an they were right on it,
I’d have the police check out the ship-to address. Some thieves aren’t very bright.
