Windows 10 – help please
I wasn’t sure where to post. I know there are posters who are tech knowledgeable and hope yu can help me.
(I went to Microsoft and have no idea when my question will be answered.)
After downloading Windows 10 last night – I FINALLY did it. 😉 reason I waited, wanted to learn about it 1st. Concerned I’d loose the Free Download I went ahead & downloaded w/no knowledge of Windows 10.
1. Today I opened Explorer
2. Several questions came up for Windows 10 – answered & also kept in download so I will remember.
3. Next: IMPORT FAVORITES
4. In the box I clicked on Explorer & clicked on Import
(I use Favorites as a library. Favorites is an important tool for me.)
5. It took a long time to ‘complete’
6. I scrolled thru Favorites & found Folders that are now empty. :smileysad:
I don’t know if they can be retrieved since I already completed the process…
Your HELP is Appreciated!
another question…hope you don’t mind
The Address Bar doesn’t show, not sure what I clicked on for it to open? I’ve been trying to figure this out too.
along the top
a left & right arrow
next the ‘circle’ ‘refresh’ button
JUST FIGURED IT OUT, NOT SO ADVANCED :smileysad:
Need to click next to the Refresh Button for the Address Bar to ‘show’, have to do this each time.
Is there a way to get the Address Bar to ‘show’?
Interesting: I just checked the other Browsers & the Address Bar shows in those Browsers.
Explorer it doesn’t. :smileyfrustrated:
many thanks – sorry for putting this on the boards but thought I may get help quicker here, than going thru
all the searching on Windows 10
Are you sure you opened Explorer? After initially installing Windows 10, the icon for Explorer is hidden. The task bar then shows an icon for the new Microsoft Edge browser, which is what I think you opened. The icons look similar, but aren’t the same.
In the search box on the left side of the task bar, start typing internet explorer. You can then open the browser and set up a shortcut and/or task bar icon for it.
When you open Explorer, I think your Favorites will still be there.
Just wanted to say thanks for all posts/replys re:Windows 10. Been a little afraid of setting it up myself because I don’t want to loose my info. This was very informative.
I was told not to download windows 10 at all. Many people are having problems with it. I was in Staples one day and 3 people just came in with the same problem(all having to do with windows 10).Not only that after the "free" trial you will be charged an outrageous amount. So if u haven’t done it, DON’T, if you have DELEATE it. That is what I was told by professional comp. geeks.
I’m not a computer geek but have been using one since 2005 and learned a little as I go. I downloaded Windows 10 (or my Dell computer did) shortly after it became available. When it first downloaded I couldn’t use HSN website on Edge- the new browser built into 10. It told me that HSN required something I didn’t have and suggested I use Internet Explorer 11, which was now on my computer as part of the download I guess. HSN worked fine on IE 11 but wouldn’t function on Edge for several months. About 6 weeks ago my computer informed me that I had a pending update to Windows 10 and it was important I do it. It took several hours on high speed internet to do it but once it was installed it fixed all the quirks I’d had with Windows 10 from the beginning including HSN working on Edge. It left Internet Explorer 11 still available and working so now I can use either. I don’t know if your computer will get the update or if maybe it was Edge you imported your files to and you may have Internet Explorer 11 somewhere on your computer with your old files on it. Good luck on fixing your problem. I know how disappointed I was with Windows 10 to start with. I hope this is helpful.
