The Original 52 Club Part 46!!
WELCOME to Part 46!!!!!!
We’re getting close to 3 years old!
Those of us that started this group…
"met" playing 52 Pick Up. That’s where the name came from…
it’s not just about that game.
Our virtual Clubhouse is open 24/7 for anyone
who would like to drop by to join in the fun,
ask a question or make a comment about the games.
Someone is usually here to chat with you
and we truly enjoy visiting with all who pass through.
But know…we don’t just talk about the games…
we talk about shopping,
the weather, each other and getting to know each other..
great bunch of people here!
So, good luck with your games…
Posting a Flip-Out score before I go back and try to earn some more tickets while I can! *grin*
Will update it if I can better it in the next half hour. :womanwink:
It’s been cold and raining for 24 hours here with rain expected all day tomorrow. Good day to stay home and watch old movies!
can get that cindy score
Posting my score for today only 4 games played before going numb.
maybe I’ll spend the evening in the caboose eating red velvet cake.
Larry, It’s freezing here too and we had wind gusts of 50 mph. It was a grip your steering wheel day.
Greetings from cold Michigan. I’ve been crazy busy and just caught up on the pages I missed. I had to go looking for Hart’s history posts. I am caught up and ready for more.
What happened to the smile count? At one point Cindy had over 5,000 smiles.
I think I behaved fairly well during the beauty event. I ordered the Simple Human mirror. My niece mentioned that it seems as women get older they seem to add extra makeup and end up looking like a clown. I told her 25 years old self to just wait, she will get old too and will want to hide all the imperfections. I don’t want to look like a clown, so I ordered the mirror. LOL
My Flip Out score is 52,600. Love triple tickets!
Enjoy your night, it’s the weekend!
Does anyone else feel like the tiles on FlipOut are really sluggish today? I’ve never had that problem before, but I’ve tried both my usual browsers and they’re sluggish on both of them–worse on Chrome, but really on both of them.
Hi everyone. News Flashes!!!
1. We’re getting rain!!! Hope it heads to you next, Cindy.
2. I figured out what the problems are with that notorious Handbag from Iman/Joy. It’s not really a handbag—it’s a "home good." If you don’t believe me, just check out the choices on the "Home Goods" section on Flip Out. LOL
Before I run out the door….Susan’s friend Nancy in Portand, Maine sent her a pic of the snow…Susan asked me to post it…
I think I’m glad I’m in Texas!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing it Susan!
Good Morning Everyone!
In between appointments and errands…came home to check on our sick FEG…it’s not the flu. Thank goodness. Just a good old cold/sinus flare. He looks better this morning, no fever and good thing he went to the Dr yesterday. By Monday, he should be good to go.
Cold here today, no sun. Lots of heavy clouds and a threat of rain/snow today and tomorrow. 35 degrees right now and some wind. Kim…you think I sent you some cold…I can send you more…
I see we had some night owls up with Oscar last night…or this morning? Nice for him to have company!
I think I’m going to have one more cup of coffee and get a game or two played. Already did what I could on Flip Out for today…49000. Can’t get any higher than that…I think there’s going to be a lot of ties on the LB. LOL
Will check in later…going to the grocery store. Last chance to get your requests for the clubhouse kitchen on the list! Hurry!
TTYL! Have a great afternoon! C Ya!
Good morning. Last night’s—errrr this morning’s post to you didn’t answer your other question about the opal ring. The prongs—are they catching on things—no they are not those nasty sharp prongs that are murdered to clothes and catch and SCRATCH on everything! In another post on the forums I have mentioned that as much as i like Jean Dousset’s rings—-his philosophy of design has led to a few of my rings by him being very uncomfortable. He goes to great care to make sure that when you look at his rings all you see are the stones and not the metal of the ring—because of this, he has side stones running deeply down the sides of his center stones. This has happened with two of my rings by him. The side stones’ prongs dig into the sides of my finger—–just like those "killer" eternity bands that have prongs all the way around! Hope But his rings and designs are so beautiful that I grin and bear it—sort of like shoes that really hurt but look so cute!!!!!
Good morning from the West Coast.
52 brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr degrees and so gray and hazy that I can’t see if there are any ships out on the Bay. They are saying that this month will be our city’s dryest January ever—-ZERO measurable rain. Yet that doesn’t count fog—my deck has puddles on it and I’m NOT complaining. Sorry about the typing last night—I mean this morning—I was fighting sleep and so very very tired but I typed all that in Caps! Yet still awake enough to talk GEMS!!!!!
My prayers to Lucy.
Arthur, ahhhhh Arthur (1850-1942), his mother, Queen Victoria always considered him the "good son." She had 9 children and four of them were sons and this is how I keep them straight in my brain. Bertie, of course, the eldest and heir. Leopold named after "Good Uncle Leopold" was the hemophiliac. Then there was Alfred and Arthur—Alfred "Affie" was pointed and reared like a German and was ultimately sent to manage the family’s Coburg Duchy in Germany. Arthur, the "good son" I link with King Arthur the good king of myth!!!! And that’s how I keep the names straight! But was Arthur the good son that his mother always believed! HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
On the surface, Arthur led an impectable life. British military leader with a distinguished career. He married the necessary German princess and had three children. He even served with dignity as General Governor of Canada. He lived until he was 91 and together with his sister Louise was the long-lived of all their siblings.Sounds pretty boring doesn’t it—nothing much for us to remember but names and dates—-wrong. In my research on the Jeropme sisters—remember Winston’s mother was one of the three Jerome sisters. Well, Jennie’s sister, Leonie, who married well into an Northern Irish landed family was very friendly—I mean—very friendly with Arthur and his wife and then just with Arthur after his wife died. She was so close to Arthur that I read that there is some question as to the paternity of her last son—–but who knows—they didn’t have DNA tests in those days!!!!! So there may be a crack in the gem of a son, Arthur.
Arthur had one son and two daughters. One daughter married the King of Sweden and the other married–a true love match—-a military officer she met while with her father in Canada as General Governor. His son had one of those "cousin-marriages" that Queen Victoria so favored!!!! He married Princess Louise’s daughter, Princess Alexandra, 2d Duchess of Fife. They had only one son, Alastair.
And now for the tragedy in this story. Alastair (1914-1943), grandson of Arthur. He was sent to military school and graduated from Sandhurst and was sent as aide-de-camp to the General Governor of Canada—who at the time was a kinsman, the brother of Queen Mary. His supervisors were less than thrilled with Alastair and had rejeced him as incompetent. Yesterday as I was preparing this story I came across sad explanation of Alastair’s untimely death. In the past, my research only said he died of hypothermia. For years this was all I found–I had to settle for that —well Canada does have snow—but something wasn’t right about all of this. Yesterday I found the answer. In 2006, in the diary of George VI’s Private Secretary there was info on the death of Alastair. He fell out of a window while drunk and died of hypothermia. Sad. Accident or something else? with a deep long sigh I say "Who knows."
Oh there goes my teakettle.
Sad Postscript: Remember that Affie’s only son fatally shot himself during his parents’ 25th wedding anniversary party because they woulndn’t let him marry the girl he wanted. Tragedy can touch any family…..
