I am very confused – ohhh what a shock! I recently contacted the department in charge of the games in regards to the fact that my scores were not being added to the Leaderboard appropriately. My response was that only your highest score goes on the Board and not a tallying of all your scores. Nice answer but it didn’t really answer my question. The Leaderboard cannot be an accurate rating of the people playing and I will give you a small list of what I am talking about.
Lights, Camera, Subtraction – The highest of all time has 24,285 points. The highest score for this week is 3,230. How on earth can anyone win 24,285 points in “one” game?
Flip Out – The highest all time winner has 425,600 points. The highest for this week is 49,000.
Carniball – The highest all time winner has 80,440 points. The highest for this week is 2,900.
Search Party – The highest all time winner has 79,365,500 points. The highest for this week is 8,955,100. The second largest winner this week has 1,664,200 points.
Tri-Peaks Solitaire – The highest all time winner has 171,100 points. The highest for this week is 3,095.
Mahjongg Dimensions – The highest all time winner has 170,474 points. The highest for this week is 83,374.
Perhaps you will ask yourself the same question I am asking myself – how on earth can anyone accumulate those kinds of point totals in “1” single game? How can all of these “all time winners” have gotten such a ridiculous score compared to any of the total scores for this week?
I have sent my responses back to the Arcade Department for an explanation – and oh surprise – they are not responding. I’m shocked!!!
I will not lose sleep over this but it disturbs me because just looking at the score you have to know the Leaderboard is not factual. Many people work hard to learn a game and get good at it but there is no way you are going to get to the top of the Leaderboard – no one can achieve those amounts of points. I personally know of times I have beaten my own score and the same old score remains on the Leaderboard. I use the Leaderboard to check my old scores but I have many doubts if the information is accurate. And then I have some really high scores for games I’ve only played a few times.
Does this bother anyone else? Should the Leaderboard be revamped or done away with? I really don’t have an answer but would really like to know what you think?
I have only been playing the Arcade for a few months or more so I have no idea of when game changes were made and on what games. I just looked up Find It. It is a game a like, play it often and am pretty good at it. My highest score is 6,590. The Leaderboard for All time is 1,517,450. The 2nd place is 218,660 and the 3rd place is 27,690 and then it rapidly goes down to realistic numbers. FBN – if you are looking at this post you can help answer a question because you are listed as getting 6,970 points on Find It Today. Were you playing it today and is that your real score? I can believe that score, even though it’s higher than my highest it is still within the whelm of believable. I don’t care if at one time they actually did give “double points” which I find real hard to believe – they could give 4 or 5 times high points and you still would not get what the All Time highest scores are. I don’t know if I can ever get a higher score on Find It or not. I know where all the hidden things are and I blast them pretty darn fast. But I do believe that there are going to be many that can move that mouse around a lot faster than me and think quicker than me. I would like to think if the day comes that I can keep improving my score I will rise on the Leaderboard. But there is absolutely no way anyone is going to get 1,517,450 points. Trekky – I saw you on the Leaderboard a couple times, I’ve seen a couple others that are on the Forums on a regular basis and I saw me on the Leaderboard once also. It was just fun to see that. Like you said, Trekky, I play Lights, Camera Subtractions at least 50 times a night. That’s my sleeping medicine???? It’s fun, I enjoy it, it earns me lots of points – it’s a win win for me all the way around. You have a different game you enjoy and that in my mind is the whole purpose of the Arcade – the fun. Of course fun turns into something else for The Game of The Week because then I get determined to get 20 wins in because I want to win my way into the weekly drawing and not buy Alternate Tickets. All is well with me except for the darn Leaderboard. It just really bugs me that no one can become number 1 or in many cases up to 6 before the numbers start coming down into unbelievable numbers. If those numbers are true from some absolete game or time – then I say put them on a board somewhere else. They don’t belong amongst what is going on today and what a person can actually achieve. As PschoMom said – clean it up. It doesn’t take an IT Specialist an undo amount of work to do that. It only takes the WILL to do it. And for me – I think it is the right thing to do.
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but a while back, the powers that be were giving you double points on games played in the Arcade. Today we are being given normal points but bonus (doubled) tickets – which is basically the same thing but just a different way to tally your overall ticket amounts. Previously, if you scored 5,000 points, it would show up as 10,000 points on the leaderboard and also in your personal reward history page, with the appropriate number of tickets allowed per the finished game’s score. I also am still puzzled at these high scores on the leaderboard, even with assuming this “solution” was how the scores were tallied in previous games.
Maybe the wonderful arcade helpers could clear up some errors by making extra space. I notice that 4 games are never played. This might or might not make a difference in the problems. I know when I clean my computer of unnecessary files, I seem to have a lot less headaches. I, am by no means an IT specialist, even though I have worked with computer programs for a number of years during my career. I’m retired due to a disability now, but I can’t imagine keeping things clean and orderly could hurt. Heck, I’d try anything to have a better Arcade experience. Just thinking……
I think maybe what they should do is, add a column for the previous versions high scores.
Would hate to work that hard (hard but fun) to get those high of scores, and have my score wiped off the face of the earth because they changed the game somewhat.
With an extra column, there would be older high scores and current high scores.
Don’t know anything about glitches running scores up on some of the games. The super high scores that were supposed to be glitches happened before I started playing.
Now some of those super high scores, the players work pretty hard for those. Like on Sparks, I know it’s possible because I play it a lot (like 50-100 games a night) but have only gotten up to 9 million and some, and could have gotten higher if my hands didn’t jerk!
And have been getting nice high scores on Lights Camera Subtraction…you just have to work hard, and reallllllly concentrate, and once again hope the hands don’t jerk, or the mouse slide and click wrong LOL. (I also play over 100 games a night)
On that game, Cindy819 and I have been in friendly competition trying to get the higher score! We phone, text, email, and instant message each other…saying “Come on you can do it”!
Sometimes takes a couple of hours of not getting ANY tickets to get that high game So once again you need to practice practice practice…and in my case, if I just can’t get the hang of a game, then I only play it a little bit.
Goood luck Lemire and everyone else. “YOU CAN DO IT!”
Thank you so much for answers that certainly makes some sense out of what appears to be a big mess. With all the other issues going on I think I’ll leave this one for a rainy day LOL. I’d much rather see that people’s posts and entire threads stop going “poof” than to fight a battle on this one. I’ll keep my own little score card for my personal scores. It shouldn’t be that way but I really don’t think that board is always accurate and I like to know when I beat myself!!! That sounded a bit weird didn’t it??
They made an effort quite a while back to try to get rid of some of the scores that resulted from glitches or other irregularities; but it ended up creating more problems than it solved, so for the time being we are stuck with those absurd scores.
As Velvet mentioned, some of the games have gone through changes in the game or in how it is scored. Unfortunately, the Arcade team chose not to wipe out all those old scores so now we can’t know who’s had the highest scores in the current version of the game.
Also, remember there are 3 leaderboards: Today, This week (Sunday to Saturday) and All time. If you get a higher score today than you’ve gotten already today, it might only show up on the Today leaderboard. (The All time leaderboard is the default one.) You can also check your ATH score on your profile by clicking on the “Scores” tab.” That should be the same as what you see on the ATH leaderboard.
The ATH’s for LCS, Carniball and Search Party are all glitch scores. Flip Out and Tried Peaks have been changed (the games themselves) but the LB’same were left with the old scores. That’s most likely a real score for Mahjongg Dimensions.
