NIGHTMARE – Continuous Pop-Up from AdobeFlashPlayer wanting access
I have sent an email thru cust. serv. asking this question but I don’t know if it ever went thru so I’m trying it thru here. A consistent (every few seconds) pop-up keeps coming on my computer while I’m trying to play the games. It says Adobe Flash Player & the address is some Arkadium web site that is asking to store information on my computer. I have hit deny over 50 times. When I went to the question mark or the square, it says that they want to install information over the available amount of bytes available to them. It says it can be anything from my username, to the scores from games I’m playing to STOCKS LISTED IN MY PORTFOLIO (REALLY – How would they have this?). I can’t believe this is happening. This is beyond a nightmare. What have you done to us HSN? This is beyond belief. I don’t know what they want to install on my computer but I know this could lead to viruses, hacking, etc. It will NOT stop coming up. I can’t even play a game without it coming up time after time after time. This is ridiculous. I know it said in order to play the games, we had to go & load Flash & now this.
Sounds kind of like you are hitting one of the ads. There are different ads above and to the left side of game that say things like download now etc. Just be careful…some of those ads are easy to accidentally hit, and they look awfully official!
Good thought, Trekky. I never thought of that.
@debhlynn7 I haven’t seen anything like what you’re describing. I don’t think it’s connected to HSN’s website.
First of all check to make sure you have popups turned off on your browser. Then I would suggest you download the free version of Malwarebytes and have it run a full scan of your computer. What you’re describing sounds like it could be a virus or some such. Malwarebytes is a very reliable program. You’ll want to run it when you’re not trying to do anything on your computer so it can be sure to get to everything. It will take quite a while to run depending on how much you have on your computer. Be sure to go to the Malwarebytes website so you’ll be less likely to be downloading other programs you may not want. Look carefully at any check boxes that come up. It’s been a while since I downloaded it last, so I don’t remember if they ever tack on other things or not.
