Match & Merger – why does a box keep popping up asking to write to my PC?
Starting yesterday, when I go into Match & Merge and while playing, a box keeps popping up asking if arkadium can write to my PC. I keep declining because I don’t want some virus put on my pc. None of the other games were asking for permission to write to my pc, so what is the issue?
I will refrain from playing that game since it is a constant interruption and I will accept files from arkadium.
I did some further digging and thisgoesto11 is correct. It is Flash Player and it wants more space. However, Flash Player is not secure and I would rather deny, deny, deny, etc. than open my PC up to hackers.
So, Match & Merge starts me back at zero every single time now – must be because I won’t let flash write to my hard drive. Tumble Tiles still is sitting at my all time high score of 14,000,000+. Lizzie18, I actually have a spreadsheet where I kept track of every level’s score and my goal was to exceed what I did last time. I don’t think I will ever surpass where I am now, so it can sit there until they fix whatever bug they have.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
That’s your Flash Player. According to Macromedia, “It is the responsibility of the person or company requesting access to make it clear to you why they want access and how they plan to use the information they save.”
Personally, I have no problem allowing. However, it would be nice if someone would respond to address this.
Tabby16, Nana & I (along with 2 others) were getting this same message. I had to hit deny 13-14 times for every game that I played in Ice Cream Blast. It also came up in other Arkadium games. I called the 800 # & they were unable to help so I wrote in to the help on email. It took about a week but they finally called back. They didn’t see this message come up & to be honest, I’m not sure they believed it kept coming up. By mistake I hit the “allow” one time &, like you, I was just sick worrying about their putting something on my computer that wasn’t safe. When “Debbie” called from Cust. Serv. (she was a supervisor, very nice & helpful), she said she was sure that I was safe in having hit the allow. I somehow brought up that same message later trying some tech things & I saw it had allow; I hit deny & then close. So I think it changed the status for me to deny & it hasn’t come up again since then. Debbie said she would have someone from Arkadium call me (only they were from HSN she said so I was confused). I am waiting now for an email from HSN Cust. Serv. to call me about the Arkadium. I will let you know what they say when I find it. Please send an email thru the “help” online so they know that other people too are getting this message. They hadn’t heard of anyone else having gotten this so they weren’t sure what to do. Please send email to them so they know. If enough of us tell them it’s coming up, they know that it really is. I know how annoying it is to keep having to hit “deny”. Now since getting rid of the message, I’m having trouble with every game going thru all the hints on how to play that game for EVERY single Arkadium game. I can’t get it to stop even tho I took the arrow off the “Show this”; it keeps coming up for each & every game. Hoping they respond soon to this. It’s as bad as the Allow/Deny message. Good luck to you. Debbie
Also, if you play on a different browser, the game will come up fresh (at least the first time). For some reason, the games don’t hold your progress between browsers–only when you play on the same browser.
I cleared my cache and still get the message. Cookies are enabled. I have no idea.
I don’t have cookies disabled and I always come in through the main website. What is strange is that none of the other games do this to me. I also noticed today that even though I submitted my last Tumble Tiles game and got my tickets and ranking – that game is still there and I can resubmit it. Bad news is that I cannot restart the game at 0.
I guess they still have some bugs to work out in the system.
I will try clearing the cache to see what happens.
That’s the only game I got it on, too.
Re: Tumble Tiles–You can always replay a level to get a better score on it. I used to keep track of what my score was on each level and try to beat it. This is probably one of those things that the Arcade Team still needs to look at. There are several games where you can submit the game repeatedly for additional tickets without having to do anything but submit the score again.
@Tobby16 You may have cookies disabled. Is it keeping your progress each time you go back in? I believe that process requires cookies. That may be what it’s wanting to write to your computer. You could contact the Arcade Team and ask them about it. You can contact them through #37 on the Arcade Help menu.
Also, try clearing cache (not cookies) and coming in through the HSN.com URL instead of through a bookmark or favorite. Your cache may be holding something that causes it to keep happening. I remember seeing that request once and I haven’t seen it since. I don’t remember whether I declined or permitted it.
