It’s The First Day Of Fall
I am sure everyone is happy to see this heat wave move as I am. Are you ready for the new season and upcoming holidays? Share some ideas with the community so others can get hints or gift buying ideas.
Thank you all for helping others.
Not a bad summer here, I was able to keep the windows open a lot which was nice, but I know some parts of the country was hot and humid. :womansad:
I love fall , actually all the seasons. This year after the hottest summer here in decades … I am thrilled to see fall!
This is a nice discussion ?.
I like early Fall and all the colors associated with it. Where I live sometimes Fall and Winter intertwine and it’s feeling like Winter way before it should. In about three more weeks I will be needing a lightweight coat or jacket/sweater if I go out.
I am grateful every year to see a new holiday. I don’t make a big to do about the holidays like I used to do when I had more family, but just the fact that I live to see another is always the best part about it.
One thing might be interesting for gift giving and that is the gift of tracing your family tree. I’m sure so many companies have gift certificates and price plans that will enable those who would like, to gift this as a gift to someone who migt find it interesting and helpful. I am looking into it myself and trying to figure out what I want/need from such a service as there are so many options now.
Another might be Suze Orman’s financial kit, to help younger family members or those just trying to manage some new and challenging financial situations in their life.
These are just two gifts that I think are gifts that keep on giving!!!!
Fall is actually sad for me. It means I have to cut my outdoor plants back and cover them for extreme cold in the Northeast. Table and chairs come in from the deck and my dining room table becomes home for the wicker chairs (I have a cover for the table). The wooden bench comes inside rather than leave it outdoors for weather changes. Then close up the house and head South and pray that there is not a hurricane or an early snowfall to close the highways.
Yes, I do miss the change of seasons. The leaves changing color. Watching the snow fall. But I do not miss ice skating down the steps from my front door, shoveling, etc.. I really miss using the fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate or a bowl of homemade soup.
For gifts….my shopping is done. Really…… I wait for sales. Best ones are before Thanksgiving and all through January. Then there are the change of season sales. I try to cover all bases. The gift wrapping is done also with name tags. While everyone is rushing around for those last minute things, I am sitting in my favorite chair reading a book or on-line checking out HSN or doing a jigsaw puzzle.
I love the feeling of Fall in the air. You start seeing the leaves changing colors and the atmosphere is crisper! Being in TX it’s a toss up, AAutumn can start as early as September or as late as November. We’re known for crazy unpredictable weather, but wouldn’t have it any other way!
I usually do a fall/winter thorough cleaning to prepare for those day’s when we will have all windows and doors closed most of the time. Freshen up our garbage disposal by grinding some lemon peels in it. Also start changing out our welcome mats to the more heavy duty kind.
I make a Christmas list early in May, start asking around what people might want or wish for. This gives me a head start on my ideas and some early shopping. I always get all my holiday decor and items after the holidays at greatly reduced prices so I’m stocked up a year ahead! 😉
Hooray! Autumn is my favorite season. The weather is improving, and I won’t mind switching to pants and skipping the daily leg shaving! I personally love these products, labeled suitable for all skin types, and picked up several kits when they went on sale. The gift box they come in is very nice, but the set could be split into 3 separate prezzies!

Happy first day of Fall Jacqueline! It’s still hot and humid here in Florida and hard to think of the cooler and wonderful season all of you will experience. But I have several Christmas gifts purchased already for my family in the NorthWest. I shop throughout the year and stash things away for birthdays and the holidays.
