HSN TRIP TO FLORIDA
OK, FORGIVE ME IF YOU ARE ALL SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THE TRIP I WON, BUT NEED TO VENT A LITTLE. I DID GET CONFIRMATION OF 2 TICKETS, BUT I HAD TO ADD MY GRANDSON SINCE MY DAUGHTER AND CAN’T AND WON’T LEAVE HIM BEHIND. YES,NIKKI WAS NICE ENOUGH TO GET AN EXTRA TICKET, BUT THE COST TO US ($318 FROM BOSTON) PLUS $30 PROCESSING FEE WAS NOT SOMETHING WE HAVE UNTIL THE 1st. WELL, IT WAS CANCELED BECAUSE THEY WANTED IT IMMEDIATELY! THE DATES AREN’T TILL MAY! I GUESS THEY ASSUME EVERYONE HAS EXTRA FUN MONEY…sad here
Still, check the airline that HSN is using on line to see if they have a lower price fare for the same day and time. I am sure that flight isn’t completely booked at this time. However, for your info, airlines, cruise ships, hotels, etc. like to have their monies immediately, if not sooner. In some cases, a deposit will do. Still keep checking, Also, sometimes the on line prices are less expensive than making a phone call. At least that has been my experience. Whatever you do, don’t give up.
THANK you to all that replied. In all fairness, I have to say HSN paid for 2 tickets as promised. It was the 3rd that I didn’t have money for right away…that isn’t HSN’s fault, but I didn’t understand the hurry to pay for ticket. Another week shouldn’t have made a difference especially if one depends on their SSI check like I do (very little fluff money left over)…oh well.
The car rental in Florida is less expensive than what you find in New England. There are a few companies that may let you rent for $10/wk. You just have to fill the gas tank. Also, leaving from Providence is less expensive using Southwest. You can also check http://www.tripadvisor.com to see if they come up with any specials as well with any other web site that aids in finding hotels and air fares.
pixie19533, Look into arriving in Orlando Airport (MCO) you may find a tickets more reasonable. You could rent a car and drive to Tampa. I am not sure how the trip works, that is with HSN but, that airport has more flights coming into due to Disney.
Pixie, if I remember correctly, the time you spend with HSN also includes some side trips. You may want to ask about those as well. Definitely check on the specials and I would start now rather than later. It may include the dates that you will be leaving and returning. Specials usually run months in advance for tickets. You can also check the airlines themselves day to day to see if there are lower rates on the days you are supposed to depart and return.
pixie, you may be able to spend less on the flight since airlines run specials all the time. You need to check or sign up with your e-mail. I’m also surprised that HSN could not accomodate your grandson. By the way, you may also want to check on visiting the zoo in Tampa and the Busch Gardens. There are many specials for seniors and children in Florida.
WISH SOME SPENDING MONEY HAD BEEN THROWN IT HSN…
