Chromebook and Flash
Just did some reading up on Chromebook OS. You apparently can use the Chrome browser on the Chromebook, but even tho it says Flash is enabled, you CANNOT use Flash on a CHromebook.
Now if someone knows differently then please post on here. This may be why many people say they are using CHrome but cant get the games to load. And this is why it is so important for people to tell exactly what device, browser, version etc etc they are using. It is very confusing to try to keep up with all these different browsers and devices. And I am not a very tecchie person, but just trying to help people play the games.
Here is a copy of what I read on a web site comparing Chrome OS to Windows 10 OS:
“Chrome OS is basically a big browser, so if you can run a program or play a game through a website, you can use it in Chrome. There’s no software download, but there is a decent array of apps. Keep in mind, however, that if a game requires Adobe Flash or a dedicated plugin, you won’t be able to use it in Chrome.
Chrome is a great browser that offers strong performance, a clean and easy-to-use interface, and a ton of extensions. But if you own a machine running Chrome OS, you better really like it, because there aren’t any alternatives. The Chrome browser on Chrome OS cannot run Flash or other important plugins, such as Java, meaning that sometimes, you will run into compatibility problems when trying to view certain websites or select extensions”
Chromebooks are becoming increasingly popular due to price.
I realize this doesnt help those with Chromebooks, but it may help those of us advising others to use Chrome! Until the Arcade team can get all the games converted to something other than Flash…which I understand they are working on…but that is a long involved process….I am sorry that those using Chromebooks can not play the games on those devices. Although if I owned a Chromebook, I would go to Arcade, Help, aND #32 and see what happens. I would also contact the Arcade team and give them as much info concerning your device etc and what you have done to try to fix the problem…and see what they say.
This is why it is so important to tell what device, browser, version etc etc that you are using,,,,dont just say: the games dont work! There are so many possibilities of problems involved.
THanks @macie412, I just feel so bad for those that aren;t able to play in the arcade. And I wish someone official from HSN would make some posts like these, and that they fixed the Edge problem.
@pipman , I know what you mean about being not very tecchie, I can figure out some things on the computer, but I cannot figure out phones, cameras, tablets etc LOL. My husband used to be the technical person but he still works and doesnt have time to figure these things out. So sorry about your partner. I hope and pray you are coping with the loss.
Great post Trekky.
I am so NON technical. I’m scared to death that something will implode…my partner, now gone, took care of all the wiring, phones, TV’s and computer. More to worry about.
Hi Trekky, Don’t have anything to add. Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to research and share.
