Tips, hints, tricks…for getting paper out of Dies?
I have the Diamond Press, which as a beginning card maker (and one that won’t be making very many as I just don’t give out many cards anymore) I like. But I’m having some trouble getting my cut out of the die…the dies are pretty fine lined and the paper can be easy to tear. Anyone have any tips? I saw some reference to wax paper but have no idea what that was about. I’m thinking of getting an Xacto knife because the blade is SO pointed (and can be used for other cutting), to lift-pry up the paper. Thoughts are appreciated!
Haven’t heard about the dryer sheets before – how interesting! I have seen wax paper used, and I use the Couture Creations Quick Release Die Paper #437-844. Too funny about just discovering all the little “holes”. *giggle* Weirdly, I have found that a mechanical pencil tip (without the lead) seems to be the perfect size to pop the little suckers through for me. It’s blunt enough that it won’t cause punctures in your paper, (like the weeder tools often can) yet small enough to get into *most* of the smallest holes.
I watched a bunch of videos about this just yesterday. Look up Karen Burniston on You Tube. She has a video teaching you how to use dryer sheets to help with the thin dies. Hope this helps!
Ok then…so I think I just answered my own question, moments ago. I’ve been running the “words” I have through the press…and then trying every thing I could think of to pick the paper out of the die. Finally pulled out a couple of needles and pins. Cursing to myself, when I slipped and stuck my finger, trying to get the paper out of the die…then went to pick out a bit in the center of a letter and the needle pierced the paper and went through the die. HUH? Turned the die over to see that there was that little hole…and little holes all over the back…(flipping die over, back and forth, back and forth)…now cursing but adding…idiot. I can just use a sharp point to push the paper out of the die from the back side. Oh…dullard.
