Ideas for Large Blank Wall
I recently replaced my 32" with a 55" TV. However, the wall where I placed my TV looks terribly bare. I have my TV on a stand.
I was trying to look for some ideas to decorate the wall. I don’t know if y’all remember Vern Yip from Trading Spaces. He once decorated a blank wall using 12×12 foam board. He used batting and a nice fabric to cover these 12×12 boards. He actually taped them on to the wall. I love that idea, and I thought maybe I would do something like that.
My sister in law suggested hanging a curtain or some kind of backdrop. I would appreciate any ideas.
I’m still not done decorating my house that I bought 2 years ago. My taste is more eclectic, and I like unusual and original decorations/paintings that not very many people are going to have. While I love stores like Kirklands, Ross, TJ Maxx, I avoid those stores because they all have the same items.
When I get a chance, I’ll post a pic of my blank wall if I can 🙂
They have adhesive backed foam tiles that can be covered in fabric right here on HSN and the best part is they are on clearance. It’s item no. 400-323 Foamology Design Foam 4-pc set and they are only $6.00.
Check out HSN mirror collection . I notice many beautiful items on set that we can purchase . I love the wall fireplaces with diamond stones . I hope HSN will air more Home decor shows .
I found out by chance how many wonderful items hsn offers that never makes it to air.
I love everyone’s ideas. Thank you so much for posting all your ideas. I can tell that y’all love to decorate.
I love the tile idea and the tree branch idea. It’s funny cuz I thought about the Tatouage that HSN used to sell. I remember the tree that was so popular that it always sold out.
I love the poster idea too. I’ve been wanting a poster of Marilyn Monroe wearing the white dress that’s blowing up. I hope I don’t sound like a narcissist, but I have a pic of myself that I took when I was way way young. I’ve been wanting to turn it into an Andy Warhol print. If I do, it’s going into my bedroom.
I like the fabric on the wall too. That’s kind of what my SIL suggested. When I moved into the house, it already had an accent wall. It’s Texas Longhorn Orange…LOL! It’s sort of butternut squash color for those not familiar with the Longhorns. It’s not my favorite color, but I didn’t feel like having it repainted. Bry, you brought back memories. I used to have a red accent wall, and my TV/entertainment set was up against that wall. That was at my last house.
I would love for y’all to come on over. That would be cool 🙂
It would certainly help us to answer best if you did post a picture.
Using a fabric board is a great idea though! Depending on the space you might be able to so a cool shape/s or multiple boards instead of a big rectangle or square.
The fabric board idea is also cool because you can change out the fabric w/ other fabrics depending on the season or your mood etc.
Also you can do this on foam, styrofoam cork or even cardboard! It depends on the space and if you want the dimension of thickness or just flat color……
You can also do a rectangle shape then drape it w/ a long piece of fabric in a curtain like way. I used to live w/ a fashion designer and a musician and we used fabric on the walls often.
You sound like a creative person just wating for a chance to play. Perhaps a trip to a great fabric shop is needed. In the meantime you can expierement w/ an old sheet and try different things just to get an idea of shape and drape.
If you just need a quick fix I often use decorative or small but beautiful fans and just tack them to the wall. It’s much more fun to break the cookie cutter design mold and be original!
Do you have the furnature and rug or carpet in place? If not I’d do that first as those are bigger commitments in terms of color and style.
Most important have fun and try new things!
I have my 55" on a blank dark red wall. Makes it seem more theater-like with nothing around it.
I have an idea for us Heidi Girls. Wish HSN would include a free poster of
Heidi Daus with a purchase. All we have to do is frame her.:smileyhappy:
Hello Loaf and Trekky!!!:smileyhappy:
Here is a trick I do in certain spaces I will use an iconic movie poster
put inside a black picture frame with glass in it. It looks amazing.
:heart:This is what I actually have on a wall.
Try to pick something you really like. I have more tips but I would have to
take pictures for that. This should be fun. Good luck!
HI TREKKY HOPE YOU ARE WELL I HAVE SEEN SO MANY BEAUTIFUL TILE DESIGNS THEY ARE USING GOLD AND SILVER WALL PAPERS AND SOME BORDER LOTS OF GREAT LIGHTING FROM THE CEILING
AQUA YOU CAN ALSO TRY GETTING SOME MOVIE POSTERS TO HANG THERE
AQUAFINA I RECENTLY DID A KITCHEN WITH MY TV ON A DESk HOW EVER I WENT TO THE TILE SHOP AND PICKED SMALL CERAMIC TILES TO PUT BEHIND THE TV ON THE WALL THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL TILES THESE DAYS . THEY HAVE SO MANY DIFFERENT WALL DESIGNS YOU COULD PUT ON THE WALL. I HAVE UNDER CABINET LIGHTING REALLY MAKES IT SPARKLE. THEY HAVE STUCKLE LOOKS THEY ARE GREAT TO
Just thought of an idea and I might even do it myself.
Get yourself some small to medium size branches that have fallen off of trees or bushes, or cut them off yourself. Make sure they have lots of little branches. Hang them from the wall itself or from the celing maybe with moly screws like what you hang planters from.
If hanging from the ceiling you may or may not want to brace them against the wall. And you will have one on each side of the tv.
Then decorate them according to the season or holiday!
It could be a problem if you have cats or birds lol but would look great. And I can pretty much guarantee no one else that you know has this design.
