I previously bought two sets of Joy"s Huggable Hangers and were delighted with them, and so during the holiday season when she had the "big deals" on her hangers I decided I would get two sets as gifts for friends and family members; my husband even got a set to give as gifts, as well.
The hangers and all the bonuses came and as we waited for Christmas, I actually opened one of the sets and used a few bags as birthday bags, without first inspecting the sets of hangers and other bags that came; bad call on my part! I’ve always inspected my orders and I don’t know why but I let this slipped and it was regrettable. When it was time to distribute the hangers as gifts, I was extremely disappointed; I couldn’t believe what I’d received from Joy! Many of the Huggable Hangers had materials missing and the plastic exposed, the bases of many of the hooks were rusty and chipped and not secured, some of the hangers were twisted and flimsy, the colors were not uniform, neither did they look colorfast, among other things. Many of the bags were defective! The edges were cut and white materials were showing; you would think that white was part of the color of the bag! The seams were not sewn securely and some were pulling apart. Did anyone inspect these before they sent to the customers? This is a problem with cheap, mass production done in haste. It seems as if the joy has been taken out of this product that Joy has sold through HSN; these recently purchased hangers are inferior to the first sets of hangers that I purchased from Joy a while back!!
I got three defective sets of hangers, and because of my oversight and/or blind trust in the product, and my husband getting rid of all the boxes in which they came, I got stuck with these hangers, from which I had to "fish" and find the ones that weren’t so bad and could be gifted to close friend and family members and kept the others for myself!
Lesson, makes no difference what it is, check your product upon receipt, because it may very well cost you in the end.
I do love the huggable hangars. I use them in every closet in my house. I have burgundy hangers that I purchased when Joy first came to HSN twenty years age that are still holding up extremely well.
That being said, I have also received batches with less than the expected quality and had to return them. It’s probably been over five years ago that I ordered a set of huggable hangers where the metal part was loose and coming apart from the flocked area. They would have fallen apart very quickly so I returned them. I have learned the hard way to examine every purchase that I receive to make sure it’s the correct item that I ordered and that the quality is good.
Even thought you don’t have the original packaging, I would hope they would let you return the product since the product was defective.
I’ve redone every closet in my home (master and 5 kids) with her hangers and never had an issue with any of them nor other closet organizer items. What impressed me is her warranty: who else offers that on hangers? Calo the number OR call HSN CS because you can print out all the return info from your online account here on HSN.com and send them back.
SisCatty Ingenious Designs (Joy Mangano) has been excellent in replacing any defective products I’ve received…and I didn’t need to return them. Customer service should be able to help you. It was also beyond 30 days of purchase.
I too ordered hangers too wthin the and nothing was wrong with them or any of the other HUNDREDS that I’ve ordered throughout the years.
Thanks for the reminder SisCathy. I usually open and inspect my packages upon arrival. I ordered an item from another company and did not inspect until too late to return. Well needless to say the item was broken and I had to call and argue to get a refund.
The Hangers do have a warranty so I would call and report the quality issues.
