Highgate Manor Poor Quality
Is anyone else finding inconsistencies in the quality of Highgate Manor??? I have been having trouble w their plush blankets. I have returned 3 out of 4 due to unfinished stitching and uncontrollable shedding. I am already scared of Concierge Collection’s plush blankets, but that’s another issue.
I couldn’t help myself and purchased Highgate Manor’s TS in Aqua. I know I should stay away from HM since I have had to return so many items, including the latest one I complained about on here. But I am hoping since the TS is different material, it will be fab. High hopes. Hiiigh hopes.
THE SOMETHING YOU SHOULD DO DIFFERENTLY IS STOP BUYING THEM. LOL I HAD GOTTEN COTTON SHEETS FROM HSN A FEW YRS AGO & SAME THING – THEY PILLED AND DISCOLORED. THE WHITE PART TURNED YELLOW. I DONT KNOW WHY – I TAKE A BATH EVERY NITE BEFORE RETIRING. I HAVE SOME FROM QVC THAT ARE HOLDING UP BETTER – 5 YRS OLD & VERY LITTLE PILLING. I GOT MICROFIBER SHEETS AT A FLEA MKT & NONE OF THESE PROBLEMS. I DOUBT I’D BUY ANYTHING BUT MICROFIBER FROM NOW ON. AND IF YOU’RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THEM – NO !!! – THEY ARE NOT LIKE THE SCRATCHY MICROS YOU SEE ON TV FOR STOVE CLEANING, ETC. VERY VERY SOFT. GOOD LUCK…
So I ordered ANOTHER plush blanket from Highgate Manor on clearance. I have washed on cold and dried on low 2 or 3 times, and the amount of lint that has come off is the size of my head. It is not usable in this condition. There r lint balls stuck all over it and all over my laundry room. Do I need to return this one too, or is there something I should do differently?
Last summer when they had an Egyptian Cotton sheet T/S I was so excited that I bought 2 sets. They went on and on all day long about the softness and fact that would not pill.
The colors were fantastic!
It took quite a while for HSN to ship them to me and so they did not arrive prior to me being away from home for over a month.
Upon returning home I laundered the sheets as per directions. And had two glorious nights on them before they started pilling and pilling and pilling. I was so upset I bought one of those tools that have different attachments for the safe removal of the pills on various fabrics. I spent quite a long time carefully removing the pills as they were uncomfortable to sleep on.
Well it did not help they just kept pilling. I kept at it, carefully removing the pills thinking there would be an end in sight but there was not and the fabric got so thin that it ripped about a week and a half after I started using the sheets.
I really trusted Allegra for some reason…now I don’t trust a thing any of the hosts and reps say. The proof is in the pudding as they say.
Okay I should say I do trust Heidi Daus.
Hi Kemiqueen, I have a few Highgate Manor blankets including plush blankets. I haven’t had any type of shedding problem, but I do agree with your statement about inconsistencies with quality. I have a Highgate Manor blanket on my bed and in one area it is falling apart. The fabric is very thin in this spot, almost threadbare. This particular blanket is just over a year old. It’s odd because the worn spot is in a spot where it doesn’t even cover us or get any ‘use’. The only thing I can think of is the worn spot might be from where I hold the blanket when I make the bed. I believe bedding should have a longer life span than just over a year. I have always been very happy with the high quality of Lands End bedding. I am going back to ordering from Lands End. I agree about Concierge Collection. The saying “You get what you pay for” applies when purchasing bedding.
I have never had quality issue with Highgate Manor. I have bought 6 comforter sets and countless sets of cotton sheets over the years and all have held up very well. I haven’t bought HM plush blankets but have several Concierge Collection plush blankets and throws which I love. No problem with hems coming undone and they are washed weekly. The lighter colors do shed until they are washed but no more than any other brand.
hi kemi, the number for what i am concerned about is 452-136. does anyone else have an opinion? or do you have this and love it? thank you so much. nik.
hi kemiqueen, i was wondering about the quality, too. i am thinking about getting a comforter set and have been reading the reviews. the good say that the quality is very good, and the poor say that the quality is awful. do you know anything about it. i’ll look up the number. thank you so much.
