I am just wondering if any one knows if being a night owl and a late riser bad for your health. My husband is an early riser and goes to bed by 10:00. I on the other hand, go to bed at 2:00 and get up around 10:00.
We just were having this conversation and he told me my sleep cycle is very unhealthy. It made me start to think.
Is this true? Any info you can share?
We are both retired so this is why I can sleep late. When I worked it was a big effort to get to bed earlier and wake up early.
There is nothing wrong with your sleep cycle, that is your natural sleep rythym. Society says we should work 9-5 too, but that doesn’t work for many. Some people who work during the day need medication to chase sleep, because they are nocturnal. I think society needs more flexiblity. I like being up late, because it is quiet. Most people are sleeping and can’t get on my nerves.
A CERTAIN TALK RADIO SHOW CAN KEEP ME UP ALL NIGHT. SOMETIMES I CAN SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT . OTHERWISE I NAP AT 2 PM. LOL
Good Thread! Anytime I can sleep 8 full hours is good for me.
I think it doesn’t matter, as long as you get the right amount of sleep and are consistent with the time you go to bed and wake up, which you are! :smileyvery-happy:
No, it’s not unhealthy. It sounds like that’s your natural sleep-cycle. I’m a night owl too and it was a real chore for me to go to bed early and get up early for work. Indeed, I never really started feeling ‘awake’ and ‘with it’ until around noon, *lol*. Now that I’m retired as well, I can honour my natural sleep cycle and feel much better for doing so.
How do you feel when you get up? Refreshed? Ready for the day?
