Is your single cup coffee maker making you sick ? /
A report says to clean you coffee maker on a regular basis around the k cup area and handle . Run vinegar through on a regular basis dry it completly. This bacteria can cause stomach upset with strep germs harboring.
I use a paper towel dipped in vinegar around those areas. You might even need a QTip…it’s a tight area. Be careful of the needle. It’s a tight squeeze. Taking out the K Cup holder helps a bit for a little more room to work.
But cleaning any coffee maker regularly is a good idea.
I just did a vinegar cycle on my electric teakettle ( I use it for coffee, tea, hot cocoa, cupa soup), and let it dry for 24 hrs and did not have any vinegar taste.
I also make my own cleaner of vinegar and lemon or lime juice and it works so much better and no chemical smell in the house. Try it!
Simple remedy , keep all things you use to cook, eat or drink from clean :smileyfrustrated: COMMON SENSE
Hi Vacumlover run it through once in a while but to rinse takes several times to get vinegar taste out . In the book it says to do that but I did not know about the K cup area breeding germs .I figure the hot water coming through would sterelize it.
Hey loaf, I would think running vinegar through your machine would make subsequent coffee taste bad? As for the handle, I use compostable cleaning wipes with Clorox to kill germs, I also clean my countertops with these.
HI Macie I use distilled water and I always thought do to boiling water going through it would be very super clean shocking.
Hi loaf, Yuck, just thinking about those germs growing on your coffee maker. I do run the vinegar through, but let it air dry. I will change this and run vinegar through more often as well as DRY! Thanks for the info:womanhappy:
