Chair Gym in your 20’s 30’s 40’s 50’s what do you think?
I am 40 and I do jazzercise/aerobics 3 times a week. I am about 30 pounds overweight but in shape. I am interested in getting people’s in people’s opinions if you own the chair gym and you are anywhere between the age of 20-56. I know a lot of 60years young and up?? people love it and that is great but would love to hear about this specific age group and their thoughts on how they like it and how it works for them. Thank you!
Hi angelpositivity well I am 46 and I do believe that every form of activity you can do while you are actually sitting doing other stuff (active sitting 😉 ) is a great addition to the activities we otherwise do. Sitting is doing nothing but watching TV is just so unhealthy. People love it cause its different I plan an getting one soon. Hope that helped a little? Have a wonderful day
I don’t own this; I was temoted but not too tempted. Several thoughts: 1) you can get the same results by buying a few resistance bands and tying them up to your chair or whatever (door knobs, etc). 2) I do not see where you would add any real weight. This looks a very lightweight exercise thing, might as well simply flap your arms around, for free (or add a gallon of water for the weight – easy to hold and already in the household). 3). This is not necessarily a good thing to do when watching TV. Even with lighter resistance, you can still damage your joints and pull muscles when you are not paying attention. I guess it depends how much engaged you are in the show. 4) Some of the poses seem dangerous to me. Granted, I have some very bad joints after an injury. I am looking specifically at the standing positions. The chair is very flimsy, so the only thing that keeps the whole construction from falling down is you standing just so and balancing it with your own body weight. Among other things, I think it will detract from the motion you are trying to do both in terms of resistance and possibly range of motion. Not to mention, it is much more difficult to stay fit with broken bones following the fall. This danger is exacerbated when you are engaged in the show. Even worse yet, I don’t know about you but I watch TV when I am very tired. Tired+ distracted+ unstable chair – not good combo. 5) replacement bands later on, where will you get them?
I think for a 20-30 year old this is a bafflingly pointless device. There are so many better things you can do. For a 40-50 year old… I think the only reason to buy it is if you can only work out if you have some silly new gadget thing. But I guess it could work for you if you are out of shape and busy.
Pershonally – I think NOTHING beats the gym. 1) variety of equipment 2) much space and light 3) people who know what they are doing to model after and to ask questions if you really need some help 4)nothing better to do in the gym! at home there is always something better to do. 5) mirrors! So important to check your posture and form!!! 6) weights in a variety of forms. Very important for any exercise plan. 6). personal training if you need it. Keep in mind that in most places in the country you can buy about 3 hrs of personal training for the price of that chair. 3 hours of personal trining can do amazing wonders for your fitness, if you hire the right trainer.
This is a waste for females who have the ability to stand on their own two feet. Weight-bearing exercise is so important for the bones, and this offers none. Get a Gazelle instead! :womanvery-happy:
I am happy with my chair gym. Some days I don’t want to do treadmill, bike, etc. But with my chair gym I still get a good workout. I even use the twister on the floor and stand and twist on it, very smooth. Some exercise is better than none, and this one is not boring.
