Andrew Lessman's Hair, Skin and Nails-How much is too much Vitamin A
I already take Essential 1. I was wondering, since the Essential 1 has 5,000 IU of Vitamin A (as natural Beta Carotene), will taking the Hair, Skin and Nails be too much of the Vitamin A which has 1,000 IU. I really would like to take the Hair, Skin and Nail Vitamins.

ProCaps has always been helpful when I’ve called them.
Also remember that time of day that you take it affects absorption, as well as what you eat, and how much stress you internalize. Some chronic illnesses and medications also affect absorption of vitamins and minerals.
Well stated ( lots of KEY information ) Flashy!
Vitamin A: upper limit for adults 10,000 IU
For those who take vitamins and supplements I would suggest subscribing to Consumer Labs…an independent testing company. I depend on this information when considering taking supplements and the subscription fee is worth it!
Pipman… You are right on the money about your findings on Beta carotene.
Just FYI from that online encyclopedia site:
Excess β-carotene is predominantly stored in the fat tissues of the body. The most common side effect of excessive β-carotene consumption is carotenodermia, a physically harmless condition that presents as a conspicuous orange skin tint arising from deposition of the carotenoid in the outermost layer of the epidermis. Adults’ fat stores are often yellow from accumulated carotenoids, including β-carotene, while infants’ fat stores are white. Carotenodermia is quickly reversible upon cessation of excessive intakes.
Excessive intakes and vitamin A toxicity
The proportion of carotenoids absorbed decreases as dietary intake increases. Within the intestinal wall (mucosa), β-carotene is partially converted into vitamin A (retinol) by an enzyme, dioxygenase. This mechanism is regulated by the individual’s vitamin A status. If the body has enough vitamin A, the conversion of β-carotene decreases. Therefore, β-carotene is considered a safe source of vitamin A and high intakes will not lead to hypervitaminosis A.
You could also call ProCaps and see what they say.
Also could I take the Ultimate Eye support with the Essential 1 and hair, skin and nails vitamins. Ultimate Eye support has 2,000 IU of Vitamin A. Would all 3 vitamins be too much Vitamin A???
