Your Best Clothing Investment Ever
Around 1992 when working for JC Penney in the fashion department during the holiday season, I purchased a lightweight, quilted, black, basic coat for winter. It was on the clearance rack and I may have paid around $20 for it. I still wear that coat today and it is still like new. It is a classic style that goes with everything, washes well, and I can’t bear to part with it. In another ten years, if I should live that long, I will most likely still be wearing that coat. It was my best clothing investment ever.
What is yours?
My size varies too much. I don’t have a single thing from the 80’s or 90s that I could POSSIBLY fit now. I am very envious.
I also have so many pretty clothes, really a whole lot, that I like very much it’s hard to only choose one. Just today I was wearing a CSC dress in bright blue, topped with a Slinky lace dister, also in a bright blue, and had everybody compliment me.
My Eggplant Calvin Klein Peacoat I have had it for about 5 years and every winter I’m glad to pull it out and wear it.
Terry Lewis jackets for sure. I totally miss her fashions.
The best clothing investment? Hmmm, I would have to say the one I was born in, my Birthday Suit. Came with no price (free) and there was no shipping and handling excepting what the doctor charged.
Just wash and dry and your ready to go. Almost wrinkle free, almost but they never need ironed until you get a bit older, lol. But HSN has lots and lots of that gobble dee goop stuff you ladies call lotion that should do the trick.
So for investment, I said this would have to be the best, hands down.
I purchased a 2 pack of the Yummie Leggings. Love them. I wear them a lot during the winter. Put on boots and a nice top and I am set. I have the straight leg and the boot cut.
Count me in among the fans of timeless black! A coat, too!
I purchased a black, mid-weight, knee-length belted peacoat several years ago from Forever 21 for about $18. It is the most flattering and sophisticated thing- you would think it is from Bloomingdale’s, I kid you not.
It has withstood lots of wear, too! Black coats are the best- you are cozy but still so polished when running errands or for a night out! The versatility can’t be beat.
It amazes me that my best investment was such a bargain.
More of a "find" than an investment would be my favorite black leather skirt suit. A friend saw it at a local thrift shop and thought of me. I tried it on, it fit, and I bought it for $15. It was like new and has a Jones New York label. It looks something like the photo I’m posting.
I concur with others about Terry Lewis! I still wear my Terry Lewis coats, suede skirts, and jackets. They are well made and timeless fashions!
Black wool coat from Target. Very few signs of wear. Timeless design.
I had this answer before even reading the full comment, or others posted!
I still wear Terry Lewis from HSN Lamb Leather Jackets and Pants.:womanhappy:
It’s interesting that the common denominator with items that have lasted so long is that they are all basic "black."
A black, long cashmere coat from Lord and Taylors. I wore this coat for over 20 years!
Terry Lewis black lambskin blazer it still looks new. This has always been my "go to" jacket for about 15 years.
I named this purchase my go to. Jones of NY 3 piece black suit. It is a classic made suit, I have worn this suit in different variations for 15 years and it is still very much in style. Every time I wear it I get so many compliments and where did you purchase? The department store where I purchase is long gone.
Last year I was going to pitch it because of the lining being torn and faded. Took it to a tailor $20.00 for new lining, cleaning looks brand new. Love this suit.:womanhappy:
I purchased 2 Terry Lewis classic leather blazers..here on HSN..
One in black and the other in saddle color..They still look as gorgeous as the first time I wore them..
