why force the glamour mag subscription
I tried to order the G moto jacket. First time ordering on HSN. Operator said I had to take Glamour mag subscription which I could later cancel. That’s not acceptable. I tried ordering on line and after I paid it again added the subscription. I’m pretty sure that is illegal. I cancelled the order again. HSN lost a customer and I’m really disappointed that Giuliana would be associated with a scam like this.
I won’t either because I’ve heard it’s a pain to cancel.
I don’t even read mine now, a lot of advertising and pretty pictures.
I agree they should let the customer decide. I won’t order any merchandise if they include the magazine subscription.
Big! Bigtime Scam!
I have never had an offer for this. Maybe, I’m ordering other things. Either way, I’m glad I don’t get them! I hate stuff like that. They always seem to send the second not free one, out before I have a chance to cancel…then I’m on the hook for it, or sending it back at cost to me. Hate those kind of "freebies"!
When you get your order, there will be a post card in the package for the mag…fill it out & send it in saying you don’t want the mag. You will be sent a check for $8.oo. The end. You won’t get the mags.
I didn’t know you could do this for years & got tons of mags. I take them to the little local library still in the plastic wrapper they arrive in. They are always happy to get new mags to read. I also cleared out 100’s of hard copy books the same way. It’s good to share !
I have never been billed for the mags ever…. nore have I been charged for another year once the free period ended… once the subscription was over, it’s over. They don’t sneaky charge you & keep sending you more.
The "free magazine subscription" is a scam (even for those who read the fine print). The worst is when you are trying to buy something that is unrelated to it. Notice how they tell you that you are the one who has to call and cancel. One should always be given a "no thanks" option with promos.
Just be careful; once they have your billing info they will keep charging you even if you don’t approve it unless you call and explicitly state "I’m not interested, please cancel and refund my card".
Magazines are so desperate for readership these days because their numbers are down (most people get their fix digitally)- I think it is pathetic when they try to force their publication on readers or bill when not authorized. For example I had a one year and only one year (I never checked the box that said keep re-newing) subscription to a mag for $10- recently I saw a charge of nearly twice that. I called my bank to report it because I never authorized the charge- the rep said it doesn’t matter that they can bill you if they have your info (I tried to explain that they shouldn’t change their terms on customers and especially not the original subscription agreement and never ever bill when not authorized).
Of course I complained to the mag’s customer service and was promptly refunded. At the end of the call she STILL tried to persuade me to stay with 2 free issues!
I give mine away but I don’t need more than 1 subscription to anything. I have to say I’m enjoying my Vanity Fair subscription though…
Belleek… I don’t know why HSN forces this. There are three products in the past couple of months I’ve wanted to purchase, and passed on because of a magazine I don’t want. At the same time, I’m not willing to turn my back on HSN… I love a lot of their products too much to say ‘sayanora’, *lol*.
