Why do we have to wait until we have a product five days before we can review it
I don’t know about you, but I know immediately if I like an item or not. By waiting to place a review it holds valuable information about a product- even thou it is subjective- from those who may be interested in buying the item, but cannot see immediate reviews. This almost seems tyrannical on HSN’s part. QVC allows you to write a review the minute you receive it. So does Evine. HSN doesn’t want honest reviews out right because they could lose money from potential future buyers who are ignorant of the quality of the item.
What item do I want to review right now! It’s Joy and Iman’s last TS Purse and small crossover. It does appear to be a great deal on TV, but it’s so heavy and the zipper almost broke when I tried ( many times) to close it. The quality is not there and it’s huge to lug around. Her large light leather sachel which is now $39.99 is a great purse! Light and big enough to put whatever in it. I bought four of those so I am not against Joy’s purses, but this last one is clunky..IMO. Cancelled my waitlist for another color. This one is going back if I can get enough strength to heft it to UPS.
Now HSN moderator, this review is about your policy, not the purse.
I use to review right away now I see why we should wait. Sometimes you like a piece of clothing right out of the box and then you may wear it a week or so later and you discover flaws. I agree with the wait time.
I can understand if it is a beauty product . However with clothing purchasing, this policy is affecting me now- as it has many times in the past. A great example is DG2 clothing and the sizing . Those of us who are familiar with the brand, know how inconsistent sizing is , even in the same style with different color choices. With the shipping charges, who wants to pay shipping back and forth , then again to order the correct size ? If we can read how the sizing runs, it assists us in “getting it right the first time.” Also , many times there will be special pricing , but by the time the item ships and the time passes to be able to post a review, the special pricing is gone. I really feel it should be the customers choice to post their opinion , as soon as they have formed one.
I also think we should be able to go back and edit our own posts , if for example we find an item shrinks, is found to be inferior quality with use or wear, etc. Or- if at first we were uncertain for some reason , then with use or wear, we found we love it after all.
I felt that way, too, until whatever it was I wanted to give five stars to suddenly broke, faded, or didn’t live up to my expectations in the long run. I know I have a couple of reviews up that I wish I could change.
I never review items right away. I wait until I have worn and washed fashion items or shoes and jewelry. I wait even longer for beauty and personal care items. By waiting and really using an item I feel I can give a more detailed review. I know I appreciate when I read reviews of people who have used the items. I also think we all have written reviews, both good and bad, that we wish we could change later on.
That may be true with some products. But with skin care items I think in most cases one must use for at least a month to see results. So in the case of skin care I think that one shouldn’t be able to review it until at least 30 days of use. (JMO)
You are totally right. Honest reviews deter future customers. I know it is unpleasant to leave a bad comment however it is for the common good and that justifies it. HSN has some very good merchandise but should never take its customers for granted. Quality control is the magic word.
I rely more and more on the reviews before making a purchase. Very often what we watch on TV is not what we get home. It takes me a couple of seconds to make up my mind and I return whatver I need to return ASAP.
I agree! I want to review my purchase while it’s still fresh in my mind. It may reduce returns for potential buyers. It’s all about the customer, HSN.
