what I bought from HSN back in the day
Hi all you jewelry fans. I just wanted to show a piece of jewelry I bought in the late 1980’s from HSN. This was all before the Internet purchasing and before this community and blogs. This was before Bill Green and Colleen Lopez and all that is here now.
In those days it was phone in orders only. They used a magnifier I think to show off the real gold and diamonds and rubies. Beautiful jewelry. If you wanted something special at that time HSN was the place to buy.
Well anyway. Here is my piece of jewelry I purchased from HSN back then. OH technobond was a bigger seller then too.
However this is not technobond.
This is 14k with 21 rubies, 11 on the front and 11 on the back. I believe it is filigree and is not the most elaborate piece of Jewelry they sold back then or the most expensive. It suited my needs at the time to go with my rubies and diamond earrings and rings. these are little round rubies.
So here it is just a little star pendent.
this is the back see how nice they mirrored and matched it up to the front.
I think it is still a very nice little piece of jewelry for its age.
Your HSN friend,
cupatea,Somehow I must have missed this thread. So sorry…I do love that ruby pendant you bought. It is so beautiful and I bet it was made much better than most of the jewelry today.:womanhappy:
Thank you for sharing it with us,.
Was she the one that had those gorgeous faux fur coats too? I remember one lady but not sure now of her name that had these gorgeous faux fur coats leopord style skin look with a high collar like from the 1920’s. I saw that and thought what a beautiful coat. I myself am not into leopord but if it was in faux mink I would have jumped on that in a heart beat. It was absolutely beautiful full coat.
I am glad to see you all here again love the memory lane of HSN.
Your HSN friend,
I miss Suzanne and Colleen together too. It was better than most comedy shows on TV. Suzanne’s jewelry was top notch too and her PJs were beautiful. I also miss Terry Lewis a lot. Her fur and leather was sheer perfection. I still have a lot of the old technibond which I love. I do not care for the new stuff though. It is pretty boring. I loved Diane Gilman’s silk. It was beautiful and sizing problems were never an issue. I love her classic jeans but some of her new stuff has major sizing issues. I have backed off her line a lot because of that. I miss a great deal of the old lines. I am not a fan of all the celebrity lines at all.
Good Morning all,
Thank you all for stopping by and posting love all that you are chatting about here.
Your know I think my very first purchase back then was a refurbished IBM Computer. It was D.O.S. operating system. I sat on that from 8 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon learning how to use it. I mastered it then the darn Monitor blew up. Smoke came out of the back oh my. I said what did I do.
Big old CRT monitor. I sent it away and had it fixed. My kids loved it to play games with the little A:/ drive disks. Floppy disk.
Since then I have had many computers as the time went in. I hate to mention this I did get one from the Q. It however was not as good as the old IBM. It did not last as long . I never went back to them.
I just stayed with HSN.
OHOHOH, Command Performance Cook ware the best ever cook ware I have had in my life time. I have not bought any since as it is still going strong and Like I said in your Post I use it everyday two to three times a day.
I did put a pan in the dishwasher and you are not suppose to because of the gold handles it did fine however I do not do it on a regular basis. It cleans up fabulous never had to any thing harsh on it and I have burned rice many times. I even burnt refried beans once. Let it soak and it cleaned out like none other.
Guess where it is made I was surprised when I looked at the bottom of saute pan.
I thought it was made here in the states. Ha Ha but it is the best I have ever had. That and my big old cast iron frypans. Love Love cast iron too.
I have the pot rack that I got for it and have my pans hanging up in my kitchen. I have a lot on the top of it. All the extras that I got with my cookware. I even have my pressure cookers up there. It has been there all these years and is still awesome.
I never did by cloths from HSN because I was very tiny. I would have to hem the pants and at that time I would think I would hem one leg shorter then the other.
I agree on the cloths it is a hit or miss anyway. No matter where you buy them.
Well thanks again Ladies love seeing you all here. This is so much fun and I really enjoy chatting with you all.:smileyhappy: I am so happy you all like my little pendent. it is really cute and I am glad I had the opportunity back then to purchase it.
Your HSN friend,
I don’t think I ever missed a show if I knew Dan Dennis was on.He knew his stuff and it was always so interesting to watch his shows.I bought lots of Technibond jewerly back when it was really good and lasted and looked like the real deal. The pieces I have look just as good as they did when I got them.I check Dan’s Facebook page once in awhile.I miss so much of the way it use to be but everything in life changes.I remember staying up all night so I wouldn’t miss anything and would eush to call in.
Different HSN than we know todayl sadly;
HSN should do an OldTimers Day. Bring back former hosts.
What was the ‘little stout’ man’s name who would round the price up to the dollar. He’d turn $29.95 into $30.00 and then say … ”We’re not going to quibble over a nickel.” … He was jolly funny.
Wow this is a blast from the past! Thank you
I remember Tina Berry, and Dan Dennis, how
about John Cremeans? I bought my first HSN
jewelry from him!
Love the memories!
I cherish my Sorelle Crystal and Suzanne Somers collections .
Do you remember when they had a countdown clock? Remember Dan Dennis? He was a very informed jewelry person . After leaving HSN he authored a gem book . He hosted awesome jewelry shows.
Thanks DBQR and Deeklez and Sunshine8075,
For stopping by my post. I really do not remember what I paid for it back then. The pictures really do not do it justice. It is not large maybe a 1/2 caret tw. Not sure at this point. But nice enough. At the time I bought this I was really to tiny for something very large. It went nicely with my rings and now the rings are to small. I was a size 3.5 size 4. Now my fingers are at least a six. However I can still wear the earrings.
I also like Tanzanite I think Colleen Lopez had this one Item # 438-287. This is a Trillion Cut Tanzanite.
I would love this in gold. I am looking for one in gold with diamonds. To match my trillion earrings, Bracelet and ring. This is beautiful as well as the ruby earrings, bracelet and ring. I am glad I did not see the show but saw the items. I would have spent the mortgage payment on the jewels.
Well thanks for stopping by glad to see you all here.
Your HSN friend,
That is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I am sure those of you who were shopping back then have seen the value of your pieces soar!!! Good for you:smileyhappy:
Cupatea – That is absolutely stunning!:womanlol:
CupaTea, that’s a beautiful pendant. Thank you for sharing it with us. They don’t have anything like that any more and, while I’m sure that it was costly back then, it would be so expensive now. I’m glad that you bought it when you saw it. :womanvery-happy::heart:
