What Brand of Jeans do you like?
As a lot of people have been saying, they are fed up with the Diane Gilman Jeans. Ordered 2 and they were way to big. All you girls out there, what brand would you recommend that they sell on HSN that are not over the top priced but that are good, close to fitting you with" the right sizing, and won’t tear up after a few months of wear? All input is most appreciated. Thanks.
For my body, I still prefer DG2, even with all the sizing issues. (However, I did buy the December TS and they were so large I could have sized down two sizes and probably still would have had room. Since I have plenty of her jeans, didn’t really need these, I just sent them back instead of going through the exchange process.)
That being said, if you need a good pair of jeans, to me it is worth it to go through all of the hassles with sizing. HSN will not charge you a return fee for sizing issues with this brand if you do an exchange, so all you really lose is time. Once you find a pair that fits, they really look great and are comfortable.
Since I have more than enough jeans, I am backing off from purchasing for the time being. If they could somehow get some consistancy with sizing, I would buy more even though I don’t need any more. Love the super stretch and would like to have a black pair, but not excited about all the orders and returns. Have decided to wait until enough reviews come back for me to be able to get some idea as to which size to order. It is still a crap shoot this way, as you can buy two different colors of the same jean in the same size and get two completely different sizes. I wish that people doing reviews on this brand would always mention the color so we could get an idea about what size to order in each color.
My favorites are my DreamJeannes. Just below them are Bandolino Mandie and Lee with side elastic.
I do wish the DreamJeannes were about an inch shorter. I wear regular/average, and they’re longer than most for women who wear heels. I never wear heels. But the comfort makes them worth it. The Bandolino and Lee jeans are the perfect in length for me.
There isn’t anything I necessarily wish HSN would carry, particularly with clothes. I have plenty of places to shop close where I live. None of my clothes have ever torn up after a few months of wear.
Coldwater Creek..which I can get again! Yea! And Lee’s.
‘Boom Boom’ brand. They have a pair of skinny jeans, Size 15, that actually fit me, (a size 1x). High-waist, High-rise, with a very wide elastic band around the sides of the waist. (got these at Ross for $12-bucks)
Also, ‘Blue Spice’ makes High-waisted jeans.
I am careful which DG 2’s I get because I sorta don’t really like the skinnies but I have some. I find I like the bootcuts better. However, that being said, I like the sharkbite hem and hi-lo hems tops alot and they tend to look better with the skinnies. But I just cleaned out my closet of all but DG2 jeans. They must be my favorites then! 🙂
I’m loving my DKNY Soho skinny in I think it was the Chelsea wash. In her line different colors seem to have different fabric mixtures. I’ve only tried the chelsea because the others were sold out. These have a very nice stretch in the waist so that the button does not dig and are well fitted through the legs w/out being sausage caseing or being too loose.
Also if you get a little bloated in the waist as I do, these just stretch along with you and bounce right back after you wash them.
I just ordered the summer wash but the pair I recieved look like seconds with areas that are on the way to becoming holes. (I did jeans w/ holes in my teens but I’m not a fan of that look in my 40’s!). Back these will go on Monday.
I also just ordered her bootcut in a different wash but have not had a chance to wear them yet.
I’m a 6 or 8 in the "real world" but had to size down to a 4 in the chelsea. The 6 was way too baggy for a skinny. The return thing when you follow the chart gets very annoying especially since I’m on the west coast and shipping takes a long time-but I’m glad I stuck w/ it and got these DKNY’s. They are very soft and comfortable in this wash.
I have tried DG2 several times and it is very hard to get the right fit. Usually one pair is too big and the next size down too small- very disturbing when paying all that shipping. Also DG2 often have a terrible chemical oder. Her ramie fabric I find itchy. I did get a pair of her skinnies in black that finally fit better than most but after washing 3 times they still stink and itch a bit. I only kept trying because obviously she has a huge fan base so they work for many people. It puzzles me as I do not have unusual porportions. I do think I’m done trying w/ her though.
Oh I did also try yummie jeans and it seems I was inbetween sizes in that line too?! I think when things are mass produced in China in such large quantities they often have crazy deadlines and mistakes get made….thats my best guess since I do not usually have an inbetween sizes issue.
I like my DKNY Soho boot cuts, but I do feel they run large. I love my DG2 for comfort and running around town. For going out, Yummie Tummie because the more I wear them, the more I love them. At first, I really didn’t think I could justify the price and looked at them as just another pair of jeans. However, I get compliments every time I wear the jeans. They get me out of mom mode and make me feel young and sexy.
My favorite jeans are Joe’s and Paige Premium. HSN had Paige until about a year ago. Both of these brands are actually long enough for me. I also really like NYDJ (a little higher waist) and Yummie. Yes these cost a little more but they hold their color, shape and last a lot longer than "bargain" brands. I just picked up a pair of NYDJ and DKNY on clearance.
Nothing wears as well as a pair of Levis. I’m down on my knees all day with kids (I’m a nanny) and the fashion jeans like DG2 just don’t wear well. Wranglers used to wear well, too. Do they even still make Wranglers? DG2 is comfortable, but the old fashioned denim is your work horse. I don’t even think most of the designer jeans are even made with true denim? I remember buying jeans back in the 70s that would almost stand up by themselves they were so heavy and stiff. We teenagers would buy a pair of dark blue Levis or Wranglers and wash, wash, wash, wash, until they look faded out and worn. My how times have changed!
Gjok, the Yummie sizing basically breaks down like this: 25=0, 26=2, 27=4, 28=6, etc. The Yummie jeans run pretty true to size but if you are on the "upper" end of your size or don’t like super fitted (tight) jeans definitely go up a size. The leggings are the best I’ve ever had and you REALLY must go up at least one (if not 2) size. The yoga pants fit like the jeans (sizing wise).
The DKNY (at HSN) run large and I sized down. Both of these brands run long which I need.Hope some of this info helps!
Levi’s or DG2 jeans work for me. I’m petite but have a very small waist and large hipes/thighs so the DG2s are great. However, they don’t wear very well. I find myself replacing them frequently but I’m not sure why except to say that I’m on the floor quite a bit with the kids and I’m a bit of a klutz.
I used to buy the dark denim and black DG2’s in the bootcut only. Lately, I’ve only been getting the dark denim. The chemical smell on the black ones scares me now that I have children.
LOL ….my favorite jeans? It’s been Dg2 for years now….and I even bought bermuda shorts for this coming summer ahead of time. I’m on a budget so I usually try to get them on sale seasonally. The shorts are one white and one blue denim. They are great. Just hope they will still fit, lol…Agi
I was going to say Levi’s….when I can’t get the Dg2’s…..but last several years it’s been Diane’s b/c they just last and last….it’s only our weight that fluctuates…..oh well……
American eagle…come in all rises, styles, lengths and also stretch. They usually don’t come in fashion colors but I only like blue. The prices rock and on clearance they are a steal. I can’t wear anything else. I would love levis again and lees!! Where do you get Lee jeans? I can’t get dg2 cause of the rise. The others are too pricey like cookie and yummy. Absolutely not budget friendly. There’s not a whole lot of choices in the jeans dept.
