The most difficult choice when ordering?………..size!
This is my first time joining HSN Community. I suspect that the hardest part of ordering for most of us is how to choose the size. I basically gave up on Iman because her sizing is so inconsistent. Lately, I also had to exchange G by Guliana purchases. I wish that Hsn could spent more time describing the sizing during presentation than trying to tell us where to go dressed in the clothes we buy :). I don’t mean to criticize but exchanging due to size is frustrating and it also cost money. I watch other shopping channels too, and hosts emphasize much more on describing the measurements of a model and the size they wear on set. This makes a big difference!. I’m 5.5′, 122lb, 37″ in my chest and hips….average….nothing special…..any clothes should fit me more often than not. I like tv shopping, very convenient but too many trips to USPS is not a fun part of it. I just got another package ready for exchange :(. Please try to make it easier on us.
The garment size is helpful sometimes.
I can wear an X small to a large within the same designer line. *****sigh****
welcome piwonia ~ I don’t have much to add other than I watch the presentations like a hawk and look at the fit on the models. I know which models are roughly my size and hopefully the host will actually do the most important job and talk about true to size or not.
I echo florida, don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and call customer service. I have always had a good response from them . I have purchased quite a bit from HSN and am not going to fret about returning items that do not run true to size.
They need to spend more time w/ the fit models, especially when new fabric blends are used. The info on how the garment runs could also easily be written into the product description. After 40 years you’d think HSN would figure this out. Returns are a pain for all of us on both sides, consumer and retailer. It’s not rocket science just common sense……
If there is a certain item you are looking at sometimes the gals here can chime in if they have exp. w/ it.
There are some vendors like DG2 that is is always a guessing game. The hardest thing is jeans when the blends vary so much. You might need one size in the white and another in the blue or whatever.
I think some batches get the wrong size sewn into them in the factory sometimes too- I have bought the same blend in 2 shades and have one fit a full size different.
Hi @piwonia welcome to the community.
Yes, your right, QVC gives so much better information on sizing. I was watching them today and each model is shown with height and top/bottom size. Very helpful! I have complained about this same thing at least five times over the past year, but it falls on deaf ears unfortunately.
I’ve purchased many of Giuliana’s jeans over the past year and used to count on the sizing of her classics. But lately that has changed too with lengths and all over sizing different on each pair of jeans. Lot’s of returning as well.
I wanted to let you know that if the sizing is off you do have one “free” chance to exchange. Also, before you return, get out your measuring tape and check to see if they match what the “garment measurement” says. If not, call Customer Service and they will waive your return shipping charge. The item is defective and not as advertised. You should not have to pay for that! Hope that helps a bit. 🙂
piwonia… glad to have you aboard! About Sizing, you’re singin’ to the choir, lass. We’ve all been begging HSN, for decades, to get with the program of talking about Sizing when a show airs. Alas, we’ve yet to see that happen. And, I agree, both QVC and Evine are very good at giving Sizing Info on their shows.
I rarely buy a TS, (Today’s Special), so wait until the Reviews start coming in. And, I go by the ‘GARMENT MEASUREMENT CHART’, not the ‘MY MEASUREMENTS CHART’.
Also, it’s important to note the ‘FIT’ description in the ‘OVERVIEW & DETAILS’ section of the Item page, (you have to scroll down and click on the ‘MORE’ link to see it). If it says, 2-3″ of Ease, buy your normal Size according to the GARMENT MEASUREMENT CHART. If 3-4″ of Ease, go down a Size… 4-6″ of Ease, go down 2-Sizes… you get the drift.
I wear a Large in most Tops, but there are some here that are Sized with 7″ or more of Ease. It’s ridiculous, but, there it is. In that case, I order a Small… can you believe it? I haven’t worn a Small since High School…. and I’m 64-years-old now! *lol*
