Tell me the truth
I have been trying many different fashion lines so I could figure out which fit and fabrics are my favorite. So far my all around favorite is Slinky. Oh my gosh! Have you tried Serena Williams’ leggings? They feel comfortable as pajamas but look amazing! Oops. I’m getting side tracked. I do have a question. All of these wonderful fashions say hand wash and lay flat to dry. It’s just that I got so carried away buying that I don’t have the space to lay them flat to dry. Is there a plan B that will keep them looking as great as when I got them? Tell me how you care for yours.
I don’t hand wash anything and everything goes into the washing machine. I ruined a couple rayon blouses because they shrunk in length. Now, I pay careful attention to the fabric blend and tend to pass on items with a large percentage of rayon.
When I first started shopping on home shopping networks, I started with QVC and Quaker Factory. Everything had to be hand washed and laid flat to dry. It was a chore! Finally I said to heck with this and started turning my things inside out and if they were real blingy (as Quaker Factory usually is) I put them in a bag and washed them on delicate. Then I hung them to dry. Now I do that with everything that has instructions to hand wash and dry flat. Then I discovered HSN and the rest is history 🙂
I purchase a lot of tops from HSN. Unfortunately, most all of the tops require hand washing.
I wish HSN’s vendors would reconsider their manufacturing thought process. With all that women handle in a day, we do not have time to hand wash a bunch of clothes. This is 2016 and washing machines exist.
I machine wash and line dry on hangers (love Huggable Hangers). Unless items have heavy – and poorly attached- embellishments, no need to baby them all that much. Sequined items I turn inside out, stick into the mesh baggies – and machine wash. I will not put up with fussy clothes. I avoid clothes that need ironing and I do NOT hand wash anything other than maybe pantyhose and bathing suits.
On occasion, I even machine dry Slinky and the like – but that is NOT what the manufacturer thinks can be done with these.
I also do not bother with delicate cycle much since I cannot see how anything could possibly get actually cleaned in such a mode (at least on my ancient washer).
HELLO CATSR2CUTE:smileyhappy: ……THIS HAS BEEN MOST HELPFUL, EXCELLENT THREAD/TOPIC!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE ‘INFO’…..!!!! :womanvery-happy::heart:
If it can’t go in the washer AND the dryer, I don’t buy it. Life’s too short to worry with “lay flat to dry”.
All of my delicates, like bras, get washed in laundry bags on the delicate cycle.
I put them in the dryer, still in the laundry bags, on low temp for a few minutes, maybe 10 minutes.
Take them out and put them on top of the dryer to finish drying.
For expensive items, I take them to the dry cleaners, attaching a note giving cleaning instructions.
But my every day wear needs to be “machine wash, tumble dry”.
I don’t ever hand wash anything. I wash my slinky in delicate cycle, cold. Then I put on my huggable hangers and hang those over my shower rod to dry. I’ve not had a problem with this.
I hope this helps. 🙂
I find I can hang things on a plastic hanger to dry if I let them partially dry flat first. It is the weight of all the water that can stretch things out of shape.
Most lines are hit and miss with me but I’ve always been impressed with my natori purchases. I do not buy dg2 I’ve tried- but no thank you.
Yes, wash in the machine in lingerie bags. The bags are great for the leggings and anything with embellishments. Then hang on a hanger in the bathroom to dry. I never dry anything flat.
I also have and love Serenas leggings and I DO put them in the dryer on low with no problem
I got one of these in Aldi a month or so ago, it was just a few dollars. Before I got it, if I had to dry a dry flat item, I used one of those folding dryer racks, and draped the item over several of the bars to distribute the weight.
I love DG and Slinky. Yes, both lines are a guessing game when it comes to size.
I also love Anthony and Natori.
I absolutely love Serena’s leggings. They are the only leggings I will wear. This is despite the fact that they bunch down by my ankles but I can ruche them and work with them. I love them, they feel and look so great on!
I just hang all my pants on hangers and let them air dry.
If you have the hangers with clips that works out great.
