stylin’ : tips and tricks
Have you found a neat way to wear something, combine something with something else, fix something, style something that makes it a winner and you do you think maybe others did not think of that?
Here’s something I figured I’d share:
Slinky Brands tank tops with sequined front: these are fabulous pieces and very very shiny, super shiny. Experimentally, I wore my fucsia sequined tank under my ruffled red Twiggy chiffon shirt with little pink feather pattern, instead of a cami. The sequins got slightly muted and the whole presentation was highly satisfying. I am now getting a couple more on sale to wear as camis.
I also wear these tanks – and any Slinky and CSC tanks as vests over button-down shirts. (I used to wear Storybook knits the same way, but it is so hot in our building!) In particular, it goes nicely under blazers if you want to have a more pulled together look, without the shirts sticking from under the blazer. Mercifully, fashion made this OK for now, but used to be real problem: the big old belly looks horrid with a shirt tucked in, and blazers are cut too short relative to shirts. So- tuck the shirt in, and put a Slinky tank top over as a vest. Their length is blazer-perfect.
Wondering why I went and bought another G Simonton top, hmmm, I know my Mom was with me, :womanhappy:thats what she loved to do in her spare time. After she retired, she was born to shop!!!! Mom was a Foremen, 5 ft 1 iff…that, very shapely..size Medium with curves. :):) She came from Italy at 16, family from $$, and did she know how to dress, the room opened up and Smiled Her Huge Bright Smile, Jet Black Hair always Teased, maybe about 5 rings on of all gold from Italy. She was Elegance and Style but when she laughed, everyone went into laughing fits, She Woke Up The World With Her Life..
I remember going into the room of her dynasty, lol, her sitting at her makeup mirror, always fixing her eyebrows!!!!!! She could not figure out which blush, was it Mac, or Adriene, or Clinique Naturally she had the most beautiful french manicure and all her gold bracelets and sapphires matched her necklaces, watch, rings, earrings and pin to match. There she would chose her Perfume, Shalimar, Blue Diamonds, White Diamonds, Red Door, or Obession for the day… all her Heels and Pumps were in new shoe boxes, lined ten tier…Pocketbooks from NY, and her store, Macys, or Bambergers before. that…My Mother was a DIVA AND SHE ROCKED!! I just realized she was DARN DIVA!!!:womanlol:
BB Do you use acrylic paints from the Joanns Fabric, or AC Moore, I have tons and lots of embellishments, years ago, My Mom and I used to paint Tshirts and Tights or Leggings and I have one my Mom Made, oh darn weather is making me weapy. missing her so much. You would have loved her cooking, she looked like Elizabeth Taylor, no lie!! Mommy I love and Miss You…
:womanhappy: I love milky knits, so George Simonton has some wild looking fashions to play with. Also have taken Bob Mackie tops and work with S.Gravers. I have a lot of Joan Rivers pieces and scaves to work with. I have never purchased slinky, since I can’t purchase a 2 for set. Love the idea yet some of us don’t wear the same size. Does anyone wear any of Simontons cold shoulder tops, I just stocked up on Renees top, I got every color!! Oh is this the layering factor, so great for all seasons. Wore it with one of my DG distressed jeans, and I love those cupcake socks when not wearing boots, so everyone loves my cupcake mismatched socks. I have made a lot of necklaces made with Huge beads in turqoise and corals for the summer. Ohhh laaa laaa, I use the viscose material and a bit of lace. Yes, I am bored …LOL xoxox keep warm, more snow coming, xoxxo hugs to all the Beautiful HSN Designer Within Us:womanhappy:
Oversized denim or white shirt…sometimes a tank under…Lots of pearl necklaces and gold chains…think Coco…jeans, or black pants. Flats or heels depending on the length of pant I have on and Go… super simple and classic.
I wear tanks under just about everything. You never know when a personal heat wave is going to strike and this way I can unbutton or peel a layer off.
Short sleeve black ponte knit dress I will wear a long sleeve silky tee or turtleneck usually deep pink, red, or green, white, with a black/white houndstooth jacket from another suit I have. I add my long string double pearl necklace, black tall boots, or tights with my black shooties. This is a nice look.
Look 2- sleeveless grey ponte knit (this is from a twofer set) I will wear a long sleeve blouse that has orange, teal red, chains called status blouse. I have a tan shawl I wear around my shoulders, tall taupe boots. I also wear the jackets from twofers with slacks with a white blouse and my silver chain or gold necklaces.
I also live wearing the longer jackets from the twofers with the soft pants, nice blouse.
massha- you style maven you. Ok I being a guy always buy anything denim and DG2 is the best in denim jackets online here at HSN. I remove things and add things to the jackets. I paint things on them.
Cut sleves off ect.
