Sporto Long Coat
Sporto® Quilted Long Coat with Removable Hood, #373-625.
Is this coat warm enough for midwest, Illinois, winter? I’m talking about blowing winds and temperature 25 – 30 degrees.
I like the style; hood, length, belt. But all that doesn’t matter if coat isn’t warm.
Tiamo2, did you ever find the wool/cashmere coat you were looking for on that other thread you started around Dec.1? I saw that you had quite a few responses to your asking for help in locating one, but I never saw a follow-up post by you to those who gave you some tips on finding that long coat.
I don’t have this particular one I do have a long one that I bought last year. It definity was not warm enough for NYC weather I had to layer or wear some type of light jacket under it. I would invest in a 100% down coat I’ve had them in the past and they can’t be beat for cold weather.
Oh no…….I didn’t mean 25 below zero. Burrrrrrrr. If I lived in that kind of temperature, I wouldn’t come out ’til spring thaw :smileylol: .
Living here you learn to layer. But I want my coat to do it’s job too.
I had a down coat. After washing, I was always picking feathers from the coat. So I’m not keen on down coats. Maybe I’ll have to buy another one. Guess picking feathers is a trade off for warmth :smileysad:.
you do mean 25-30, not -25-30, right? I do not have that coat but I cannot imagine it would not be good enough for tmps like those, with a good enough base under it – sweater, warm pants, good scarf and hat.
went and checked again. It’s just poly fill. It will be all right for warmer days – like in the around 30 but it cannot be your only winter coat, you still need the good old goose down jacket for when it goes colder.
Hi, Tiamo – while I don’t live in your northern climes, I do have the jacket/shorter version of this coat. It is warm, and the nylon fabric works as a nice wind breaker, however…it is surprisingly thin/lightweight. Works for me here in TX, but Illinois? I’m just not sure. Hopefully, as BB said, one of our Northern Girls will respond. :womanvery-happy:
Tiamo..gosh that sounds cold. I think 2 of our posters are from your area . We can wait and see what they add. Did you read reviews ? At times the video has great info.
STAY WARM, AND MERRY CHRISTMAS BB
