Is it better to return merchandise by UPS or US postal service? Your experience.
Are you talking about is it better speed-wise? Convenience like to your house? Actual shipping cost? They all play a role in what is advantageous and what is not.
USPS contracts out (the post office guy told me) for the EZ returns. I went to the main office and he said that the “company” had already been there that day to pick up the “pre-paid” HSN. I’ve done both and it appears UPS is slightly faster. I pay USPS first class if it’s a light item/inexpensive. Cheaper than the EZ and I have reached the 6 VIP returns with the 5 bucks back. The unopened tablet that I got as a gift and had to return cost me 26 bucks to return via UPS.
Like Lizzie818 said, the cost of the EZ return labels ( which I use ) at either place is the same. My schedule is crazy/hectic so I am Always out and about and need to get things done FAST, so I use UPS. I give them the package, they scan it, I get my receipt like the post office BUT at UPS there is RARELY even a one minute wait!! : }
I prefer going to the post office and mailing it. I hand the clerk the package, it’s scanned, and I receive a receipt as proof of mailing.
It depends on what you’re talking about. If you’re using the EZ Return label provided by HSN, your cost will be the same regardless. I find it easier to use USPS because I can schedule them to pick up the package when they deliver my mail or if it fits in a blue box, you can just drop it in there. If it’s something you’re having to pay to ship back, I usually weigh it and go online to compare prices. Be sure to get a tracking number whichever way you go. If it’s something costly, I’d also pay for insurance. I believe UPS includes some insurance, but I don’t think that USPS does.
I don’t think the service is any better one way or the other; however, I notice some people reporting their USPS is not as good at prompt delivery to them or to UPS as my post office is. If you have those kind of issues, it’s probably worth the hassle to take it to a UPS site. (I believe they charge an extra fee for pickup.)
I have never used UPS for a return. The postal service works fine with the return label and i haven’t had any problems. Maybe some others will educate me on the difference.
