How do i know what magnification to order for readers?
I purchased Joy’s Reader’s for men…and LOVE THEM…Great quality. However, please do not go by their specification chart that goes according to your age. They suggest +3 for me……NO WAY! Take the advice from another post. Go into a drug store or wherever they are sold and "test" them out first. I found out the higher the magnification the closer you need to get to what you are looking or reading. I’m a young looking 57 yr. old guy and a +1 or +1.5 is great for me. Each person is different though. Go to a store and try them out. Sure beats having to return an item if you buy some reader’s from here. Good Luck!
Everyone suggesting that you experiment at the drugstore displays is giving great advice.
You can read the print on the display or bring along a short article to see which magnification works best.
As others have noted, Joy’s readers are absolutely wonderful!
On this website, If you go to Joy’s Readers and watch the video or read the description information … She has a Uniform Chart that lists the suggested magnification based on Age. Now can go up or down as you choose or as your personal and visual situation dictates.

Hello, I do have Joy’s and I love them, especially the sunglasses. This is how I found my readers. I went to the drug store, I would get something to read with small print and tried on different ones until i found some that I could see the words clearly. This is the magnification I ordered and they are perfect. Also I have never been able to use bi-focals due to they make me dizzy. But Joy’s sunglasses I can wear. Her readers are a winner.
Diana874, I have been in need to see an eye doc (as massha mentioned) & never seems to happen. 😉
In the meanwhile, I use readers from the Drug Store but did buy a long time ago Joy’s Reader’s. It gives ‘age’ & # to make yur selection.
I chose the age above my age, the readers I had/have from the drug store I use are a different magnification, not for reading smaller print, etc. Joy’s worked for me.
The # of readers yu receive & the price point is far better than drug store pricing. My experience w/Joy’s is that they are ‘solid’ readers. I buy the least expensive at the DrugStore since I misplace/or loose them. :smileyembarrassed:
Just a suggestion: there are good deals buying readers on-line vs. the drugstore. Yu could go to the drugstore & try on the different lense #’s, that way yu will know the magnification. I think the #’s are ‘across the board’ w/readers. It would give yu a comfort level in choosing the magnification online. :smileyhappy:
probably best visit an eye doc
They have a way at the supermarket but it never worked for me/
