I’m 5’2" and seem to always spend alot on tailoring when my length (petite) is not available….I see many designers showing pants with gathered bottoms which is a help, but not quite short enough sometimes, but glad they’re doing it. For instance, even Dg2’s "petite" jeans have to be tailored several inches….sadly. Her ankle zip petites are ok. It’s her "bell bottoms" that are way too long in the "petite"….THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR ATTENTION!!! LOVE HSN!!! Agi
I will not pay what everyone else pays and then have to alter my pants. There is a solution and many of the catalogs are doing this. It is called PETITE SHORT. I am five feet tall and they are perfect.
I am also 5’2″ and my legs must be a couple of inches longer than yours, because DG2 petite sizing is usually just a wee bit too long for me to the point that i can wear a short heal and make them work. Her latest TSV, though, the ponte boot cut pant were actually too short for me! This was the first time in my life ANY pants were too short, haha! Anyway, maybe you should try those. They fit me great, just a bit short.
I am 5’0 and also need the shorter end of "short" sizing. I wish the designers on HSN would offer the short length in all pants and skirts. I need to hem a few outfits from here that were short length.
Lots of my favorite brands now offer petite sizes online, Chico’s, Macy’s, White House Black Market, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, Soft Sourroundings, J. Jill, Talbot’s, Ralph Lauren. The problem today is inconsistent sizing, irregular measurements, so it is hit and miss, when you order clothes without trying them on in person! Knitwear is always variable in sizing. I often try on 2 or 3 of the same style pant and they all fit differently! Quality in clothing is hard to find!
I have never ordered pants from Land’s End, but they do offer free hemming on many of their pants for women and men.
Brick and Mortar stores in my area of Virginia that have petites in the stores to try on first: Macy’s, or J. Jill’s and Talbot’s Outlet. HSN offers a lot of clothing that fits petites. I certainly have found lots of great outfits to spend money on here, lol!!
Only a few designers on HSN consider petite length sizing. Antthony Design Originals had a maxi dress that I bought. I never ever thought I’d be able to get one because of all the trouble with needing hemming. I too find that petite now typically means an inseam of 30 inches. I guess there’s another term for me, because even 30 inches is too long for me. I can do 29 inches ok though.
I refuse to have my pants hemmed one more time. Men typically don’t pay. Will continue to buy petites wherever I can find them. Not easy sometimes.
We keep asking and asking for petities. Maybe eventually!
I agree. I have a few friends who are around 5’5" and they get petite pants. What hope is there for me, when I need a 26" inseam. HSN seems to offer fewer and fewer petite items; yet, go to any mall, sit down andd people watch for awhile and you will see so many, many short women. Wouldn’t it be nice if our pants were sized like mens. I still have to take my petite items in to be hemmed.
Hi AGIKLCO! I need short inseams too! I need a 28" inseam in most pant styles. What I find works for me is not to buy palazzo or wide flare pants. Instead I look for ankle pants, crop pants and the new style of jogger pants or ruched bottom pants. I used to hem my own pants, but just won’t do that anymore. I can wear DG petite flare jeans, but they stretch out afterwearing a few hours and then they are too long! So many of the long skirts and Maxi dresses are too long for me too! So far on HSN, Antthony’s pants and dresses have been short enough in many of his fashions. In Slinky I only buy crop pants and they fit me like ankle pants.
