I heard Jackie say she rolled her Slinky clothes when she packed. I am packing all Slinky for my upcoming trip and wondered if rolling them really is the way to go. Has anybody done this? What was the condition of the clothes when you unpacked them? Thanks.
Hi Pamlou. I’m with you on flying. I need to take dramamine before to keep me sane and from feeling sick on the way up and on the way down. Not a happy camper when it comes to flying. But, my husband enjoys it and for his sake I go that route when driving is out of the question. I also avoid elevators whenever possible for the same reason.
If rolling your clothes is not your thing or you cannot master it, I usually lay everything flat in the suitcase. On shirts I fold the arms in ward. Dresses the same and fold the skirt underneath very lightly and I do the same for the bottom of pants. I do not fold them anymore because it adds weight to the suitcase. As far as wrinkling—-there is none, though I do pack a small steamer just in case. I have packed this way for years and the clothes are just as fresh and wrinkled free the next day when they are unpacked, or when on the road, as needed.
Have a safe trip and enjoy all the sights and sounds of Vegas.
Pamlou, I have been rolling my Slinky for years and they come out perfect. I couldn’t vouch for other fabrications but Slinky is wonderful for traveling. I adore Vegas and hope you have a spectacular time. Wish I was going with you.
I wish you were, too, @harikari. For some reason, the week before I leave I always get homesick and don’t want to go. Crazy, huh? The minute I pick up my rental car in Vegas, va va vroom!
I’m going to follow @mooncat3‘s advice and check You Tube. It would be just as easy for me to go check my suitcase and my clothes that are already rolled 🙂
Although I don’t buy much Slinky I think the clothes rolling must be an art form. I have heard this for many years. I tried to roll things like tops and tees once and everything was a wrinkled mess when I got to my destination. Kudos to those who have mastered rolling!
@mooncat3 we are going to Vegas. I’ve never rolled my clothes before so this is a new experience for me. I can’t imagine all fabrics being rolled without wrinkling but you are the voice of experience and I take your word for it 🙂 Is there a special way of doing it or just roll roll roll my clothes? I’m already dreading the hassle of the airport and flying. I hate flying!!!
pammy look on you tube for a how to roll your clothes for packing- easier to just see than to try and explain
Thanks, Moon. I will right now.
Pammy I always roll all my clothes of every kind when I travel. This is a packing tip no matter the fabric.
Where ya going ?
