New to Slinky Brand!
Help, i love the slinky lace outfit and the Todays special does not look bad. I never bought this brand before! Help, i am 5’9 and weight is 168 give or take a few. I wear large in most of the clothes, but with the tops, i have issues. Large or extra large for comfort, i like my tops not too tight. Any slinky girls outthere to help me?:catwink:
I love, love this brand..have bought quite a few of the slinky items..look great on heavier ones like me and super comfortable..
So I did not get the Today’s special, but did find a few event priced items. For summer I got her lace maxi skirt 497-768 and peasant top 497-768 in navy. Love it! I am focusing on a few berry items for fall- I can’t always wear black or navy! I love Slinky’s stretchy lace items. I ordered this top in berry!

Thanks for the tips FaireMaiden! I really learned my lesson this Spring when I ordered the Slinky Tunic Crop Set TS. I wanted the shorter crop length and ordered the Petite. The pants were okay, but the tunic was too short and slim on me! Petites really are petite in the bust in the arms in the hips, not just shorter! I used to always go down a size in Slinky tops to get a closer fit. Now I don’t automatically order one size smaller. I carefully read the Garment Description! It really makes a difference in selecting the right fit. I also think the newer Slinky Polyester/spandex jersey fabrics really need drape to look right. Generally Slinky runs a bit looser in fit than most HSN brands.
Slinky is a wonderful brand. Thanks to massha, who turned me on to Slinky, I now have tons of it and couldn’t be happier! I’m 5’3, 42-38-42 and, in Tops and Dresses, always buy XL.
However, I still check all the various factors when trying to decide what Size to order, especially in Pants and any kind of Jacket. There are a lot of things to check before placing your order.
FIRST, scroll down the page to the ‘OVERVIEW & DETAILS’…
Then, click on the ‘MORE’ link…
And carefully read the ‘FIT’ description…
In the TODAY’S SPECIAL, you’ve got 3 different Garment Sizes to consider… Tank, Pants, and Jacket as shown here—>
The TANK is fitted at 2-3 Inches of Ease. This means that, if you wear a L, it will fit like a L.
However, you will notice that the PANTS and JACKET fit at 3-4 Inches of Ease. This means that these Garments will fit much looser than a L and you will have to Go-Down-A-Size to get a proper L fit.
Which is why I NEVER buy these kind of ‘SETS’. While I wear an XL in the TANKS, I wear a MEDIUM in the PANTS and either a MEDIUM or LARGE in the JACKETS.
Hence, the ‘SETS’ never fit properly… either the TANK fits perfectly while I’m swimming in the PANTS and JACKET… or… the PANTS fit great, while the TOP would fit my Size-Small niece! *lol*
Now then, my Rule-of-Thumb is this: 2-3 Inches of Ease = your regular size; 3-4 Inches of Ease = go down a size; 5-6 Inches of Ease = go down two sizes; 7 or more Inches of Ease = go down three sizes. And, yes, I’ve purchased some Slinky items that do, indeed, have 7 Inches of Ease and had to order a ‘Small’ to get a proper fit!
Mara Wynne and Diane Gilman also makes tops that run 7 Inches of Ease… so, you really need to read that ‘FIT’ description.
The SECOND thing that must be checked is the actual ‘Garment Meausrement’. Click on the ‘View Size Chart’, and then click on ‘Garment Measurement’. Don’t waste your time with the ‘ADD MEASUREMENTS’ thingy.
In the TODAY’S SPECIAL, you will see the actual Garment Measurements for all three. For me, the Pants and Jacket are way off the XL Tank size for me, (given that the FIT description is 2-3 Inches of Ease for the Tank and 3-4 Inches of Ease for the Pants & Jacket), so, no matter what Size I order, one or more of the other Garments isn’t going to fit properly, (Pants & Jacket will be way too big). Thus, I’m stuck with paying the Return Shipping. No thanks.
It’s much better to buy anything in the Slinky Brand as separate Garments.
