I check for new styles everyday. Other than shoes, Slinky and Anthony I really have not seen any new fashion. So many of my favorite vendors are gone and they they are not being replaced by anyone else. I’m tired for faux leather jackets and leggings. I always like HSN because they used to have fashion forward choices, not like old lady QVC or cheap Evine. They are in a rut.
I just looked at Eva Longora’s line and not a thing that I would wear. These celebrity fashion curated lines get very boring imho. I can see having a few if they are bringing well made pieces at a great value but several lines?
Seems they would be better off doing a few capsule collections with new “stars” rather than build the bulk of fashion from non designers.
Makes me appreciate Josie Natori and Marla all the more.
The HSN buying team must be a bunch of 20 somethings now.
JaDiva did you have luck w/ the botique in Santa Fe picking out things for you? Did that happen? I was thinking about that, that if they had a company cell phone w/ face time and you have face time it might work great!
I do not really need a darned thing so all the changes don’t bother me much. Money in the bank is fine by me.
Mooncat3, I am in total agreement with everything you said. Eva’s line was mostly 20-30 something fashions. I do enjoy fashion forward clothes, but some of those styles will be out after one season. Natori and Marla Wynne have a higher quality of clothing.
I have not contacted the boutique in Santa Fe, but I know if you call they would try to help you. The pieces are more expensive, but the quality is fantastic. It’s not wear one season and have to throw out clothes.
The changes and deletions of some vendors is sad. The new ones all being celebrities and not designers is depressing. I look at new items under fashion every day and there is mostly new shoes and sunglasses, it’s crazy. Fashion is mostly Slinky.
Moon, as the movie stars continue to bring fashions to HSN, I have now started calling it
*** Hollywood Shopping Network ***
Although I purchased fashions from others Slinky and Anthony were my favorites. Lately they seem to lack quality. Slinky has too much fabric, ruffles and same old styles. Definitely something is wrong.
Too many celebrities!!!! Other than Marla & Iris, I don’t see anything excited. I get Antthony & Slinky here and there but I miss Hal, Liz, Nikki etc. I know it’s been said before but no one makes clothes like Hal Rubenstein. This may be weird but even if I’m not planning on wearing his clothes, I will touch something of his when I’m in my closet. The quality is that good. He reminds me a lot of Linea over at the Q. They know how to make clothes. Too much low quality junk out there now.
@jadiva, have your ears been burning? I was talking about you on the Heidi thread. All good. You and I used to talk, I guess a year or two ago. Your current avatar picture looks so different from the one you used to have up. While I thought you were so elegant and attractive then, now you look more hip and stylish and young. Either way, you are a classy looking lady. Just thought I would start your day off right 🙂
Pamlou, you are sweet, thank you for the compliment. I try to keep my look updated. Thanks so much.

Our GORGEOUS JADiva, no matter how you cut it!!!
Argh! That was the sweater that got away! I regret not nabbing that one! Love you in it. I miss that line. I did get 2 of her fringe scarves that I love.
FaireMaidem, how did you have the older photo, lol. Thank you so much for the compliment. I’m wearing our beloved Heidi Daus in the first picture and Rarities in the second. I spread the love around. Lol
What’s happening??? The fashion at HSN has hit rock bottom. I used to look online almost daily to see what was new and often found something cute. That hasn’t happened in a very, very long time. I absolutely LOVED Liz Lange dresses and still do, but she is apparently gone now, too. Soooo disappointed. I looked forward happily to her new lines every season. Now there’s nothing, and I mean nothing, worth following on HSN at all anymore. Wake up, HSN. You’re losing customers in droves. Bring Liz back and pay her whatever she wants. She’s worth it and , sorry to say, you need resuscitation STAT!
Things are going downhill. Boring Fashion.
Who IS doing the programming here? Variety going downhill all together.
I cannot agree with you more! What’s going on? I did hear awhile ago QVC and HSN were going to merge. Please say it “ain’t” so?
I agree, I don’t see much that I want. I did order a pair of Slinky pants today because I have another pair by them that I like and wear quite often. I am not big on those bell sleeve tops, they just get in my way especially when I am at work.
I have a feeling that HSN will eventually merge with QVC and that is why you are not seeing anything new. We have new management now, but they are QVC people and not new except to us. The new owner, (hmm not so new), Liberty Communications was an owner of HSN many years ago along with co owner Bob Paxton and drove HSN to the ground whereby Barry Diller purchased HSN hired new people which made HSN what it is today. Right now HSN still has it’s own identity, which may be lost in the next few months. Maybe that’s why we are seeing additional flex pay, more sales, lost vendors, etc. etc.. I hope I’m wrong. Guess this is the time for us to wait and see what comes down the pike, so to speak.
Loved Randolph Duke and his fab stylish jackets and outfits ….I still have a few of them including leather jackets from Terry Lewis. My fav for quality and style is Marla Wynne – my figure/age is similar to Marla’s and I love her perspective on how to wear her clothes (or others). I have so many of her drama kimonos – yeah!!
Me to I have several of terry’s leather and suede jackets one black blazer in particular I have worn on a constant basis and it still looks good I’m thinking it has to be about 20 years old. I have several of Terry’s faux furs also. I don’t think I have any of Randolph’s left in my closet (sad face).
I still have and wear my Terry Lewis Lamb Leather. All those beautiful colors and so well
made. I wish she were still with HSN.
Since fashion seems to be on vacation, time to stock up on accessories.
I always admire Heidi, she wears simple one color pants and tops and puts on a great jacket and her fabulous jewelry.
I may turn my closet into a giant jewelry box and just have great jackets and very few tops and bottoms in matching colors.
It seems to me HSN is not only in between the full merge but also right between seasons and clearing out the old to make room for new. They are typically bad at letting the customer know who is coming and going.
They have been focusing on celebrity curators of clothes rather than real designers. Don’t get me started on the 20 something blog writers in the blog area. Only time will tell if that plan works for them.
Personally I love N Natori and Marla and can almost always find a little special something on HSN.
Sigrid Olsen had some great pieces too. Hal made dresses like no other but I think he got too caught up trying to be trendy.
I do not depend on HSN to satisfy my needs or whims yet they often do. When I’m bored w/ HSN or whatever if I look deeper I’m usually just bored! There is nothing like tapping into my own creative energy and art and if that goes dormant then sometimes I notice this boredom as there is all this amazing potential in each of us not being expressed.
Now JaDiva if the store in Santa Fe was Peruvian Connection you are in luck as they have an online store! And if it was not, you might check them out anyway.
In any case you look adorbs in that French Rendevous sweater! 😉
Hi Mooncat, the boutique in Santa Fe is not Peruvian Connection, I have received their catalogues for years. No this is a one up boutique store called Creative Design. It is owned by a couple not a corporation.
Creative design has a web site, that you can purchase from. And I agree with all of you on HSN fashion. I have been buying from Women’s catalogs too lately.
okay, god forgive me, but here’s my $0.02.
this rut in hsn inventory- pretty much across all
categories- is due to the leave of former hsn ceo
mindy fought hard to bring in the best for hsn customers
and, consequently, make hsn the best.
now that she is no longer at hsn, her artistic eye, her
knowledge of the value of a dollar and, most importantly, her
irresistible persuasion are gone as well.
each and every time I see a weight watchers ad on tv,
it is like a stab to the heart.
it was rumored that oprah winfrey bought the fledgling
weight watchers company and then hired mindy grossman
at a price that not even mindy grossman could refuse.
all oprah and mindy did is hit the REFRESH button on weight
watchers and give it a bit of a cosmetic lift, cleaned it up
around the edges and RE-MARKET the brand.
by calling the weight watchers lifestyle brand now- FREESTYLE and
by adding more “FREE POINT” FOODS, the two are making a new
fresh name for weight watchers and attracting a newer, younger
audience. one that may have never even heard of the age old
weight watchers brand.
as for qvc, it has gone down big time since the earlier days.
it too now has limited inventory but the prices keep going up.
the flair and the value are gone.
as for evine, I think that it is still a bit young and rough around the edges.
although they do make an admirable try to please the customer with
a variety of inventory choices. a lot of former hsn vendors have fled to
evine and have found a home there. I think that these new partnerships
are going to help propel evine even further along the home shopping
market. kudos to evine for having a brain and the requisite brawn to match.
i just hope that hsn re-evaluates itself before customers start to wander off.
unfortunately, the home shopping struggle is real.
oh, sigh.. xoxo
Bravo, Josephena! It could not be made any clearer. Both HSN and QVC have hit rock bottom as far as I’m concerned. With the exception of Vince Camuto, I won’t even bother. I don’t like Evine but now that you mentioned former HSN vendors appear from time to time I may watch. Although I must say, I do not like watching any of these shows; the hosts make me nuts. I feel they’re speaking to me like I’m an . “You can wear this with your blah blah blah!” So I cruise around online and skip listening to all those annoying hosts who make too much money. That doesn’t mean Colleen. I
still love her.
Josephinea, I totally agree with you. You observations are correct. I feel losing Mindy Grossman was and putting a man at the helm will be HSN’s downfall. I did read the HSN’s sales were dropping while Mindy was still there, but they are getting worse if you look up their financials.
I noticed that prices are getting higher, while the quality is not improving. The variety in all categories has been reduced. Stores like Nordstrom actually have lowered their prices and have free shipping and returns as well as perks if you use their credit card. The only thing HSN still has going for it is flex pay.
It is easy for Oprah to do a diet like weightwatchers, because she has her own chef cook for her and create delicious dishes and snacks. About 35 years ago I met the son of the original owners of weight watchers and he was short and about 300 lbs. LOL. Dieting is hard work. I am going to get on my Nordictrack Eliptical machine right now.😆
JaDiva and PamLou: You are my heroes. You are correct about everything you’ve published. I feel the same. So bored with everything, prices increasing, quality decreasing and nothing exciting!
Thank you, Ladies. I love reading you. You make me smile!
I like Susan Graver. I have a few of her pieces. ☺
I love Slinky, but some of her pieces just seem to be repetitive. In particular her two piece sets, the sleeve style and length changes. The bottom of top changes hi-low, circular, hankerchief, angle, etc. It is mostly solid colors with a few prints. Rinse, lather, and repeat.
I have always been an Anthony fan. Love Anthony, but lately the quality of his clothes have been really bad. The last three outfits I returned because the material was cheap, and the pants were three inches longer in length than stated. 😞 One of his outfits was so cheap that it was see-through. 😱
At E, I love Indigo Thread. I have not quality issues with that line.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I wear a lot of clothes from QVC. I have a closet full of Susan Graver pieces. Quite a few Isaac too. I don’t think their pieces are dowdy or for an old lady. It’s all how you present yourself, your attitude, and accessories. I must be doing something right in my QVC clothes since I get compliments from both sexes. 😁
@southernlights, you go girl! I used to have a lot of Susan Graver things but finally found I didn’t like anything she offered. The one thing all of you have in common is your attitude. You have self confidence and wear your things like you own the world. That’s the impression I get, anyway, and I applaud all of you. Me, I worry worry worry that I’m still too fat, too old, too gaudy, etc. It’s a breath of fresh air for me to listen to you gals and try to be like you.
Pamlou, long ago I was watching one of the shopping channels and there was some famous gentleman selling jewelry, high end costume type.
He said the most beautiful thing I have ever heard about women dressing.
” When I see a woman who takes the time to dress, accessorize, make up, hair and nails, it could be my server in a restaurant or anywhere on the street just passing by, I know she took the time to do that and I admire her silently or as a compliment for the beauty she provides me in my day”
Go out and …..Beautify’ your world’….. with attitude and undies unseen…..
@pamlou, life is too short to worry about what others think when it comes to style. Whatever you wear, wear with confidence. Just read an article about what ages a woman – pearls, matched jewelry sets, sequins, home shopping networks, and more. Made me bust out laughing because I violate every rule! I am not following fashion rules. I follow what makes ME feel good. The only rule I follow is I can’t embarrass my kids. They might grumble when I wear my ‘Stevie Nicks’ hat or matched jewelry sets, but they sure beam with pride when someone compliments them on their mom. Pamlou, embrace YOUR creativity and style and shake what your mama gave ya! 😀
@southernights55 LOL, all those things fit me, too. I was reading something on the computer the other day about people being shocked that the first lady would wear white now (turns out she didn’t). I keep hearing it is perfectly fine to wear white year around now. I always thought that was a rule, anyway. Who came up with it? Why do we listen to somebody we don’t even know spout out something that is too for words. That’s my opinion, anyway. I like that the rules are going by the wayside now. You can wear almost any color with anything you like. Now that I am of a certain age, I keep hearing I am too old for this or that. There is a 61 year old model who is telling us to stop wearing so much makeup and go for the natural look. I like my eyeliner and eye makeup, thank you very much. Everybody should just do what they want, within reason, of course, and strut their stuff. One of the hosts was saying the other day that velvet is for year around now. Everything is changing.
Some of my words were edited out so that’s why it may sound strange.
They edited out some words in my post that aren’t allowed so that is why it doesn’t make sense in some places.
I am thinking the same thing, nothing excites me in fashion right now, Maybe the Boutique shopping is the only way to get fresh and new clothes.
The stores also show the same items over and over.
One thing I noticed is how so many people look alike and very few stand out.
Hopefully the change of season will bring fashion changes.
When did fashion become Vanilla????
