Melissa MacCarthy Designs
Whilst acquiring a great reputation (deservedly) as an actress, Melissa has yet to establish (herself) as a designer. Why are her designs competitively more expensive than those of established designers? Are we to expect higher quality materials, or are they made in USA? I have yet to find out as I find them too expensive to order. I am just not that impressed yet. I might add that I am very very tired of the "slinky no crease type materials currently in favor at HSN and will not put more into my wardrobe. I will pay more for quality cloth, but am not willing to pay return postage time after time when faced with disappointment. Just sayin………………
There were a few threads a little while back. Come to find out she IS NOT the designer – she is just promoting a brand, a brand you can purchase to I think Lane Bryant. Very tricky I thought. I think the clothes are way overpriced, but I am a married disabled stay at home mom of 3 under 12 who rarely buys herself new clothes at all, let alone jeans over $25 ($100 jeans?? not on your life, I don’t care how they make my tush look). I my spurge on Origami and small kitchen appliances, but I am happy in cheap jeans and t-shirts from Walmart.
both of these opinions are fantastic the truth will set you free. expectations shouldn’t cost you just because she is an actress doesn’t mean her clothes should cost so much they look like the things you can find at walmart or target and they don’t cost that much. sorry, but I don’t think she is funny either just saying.
All the things I wanted in Melissa McCarthy’s line are completely sold out in my size :'(
Wow, I can understand if the clothes are over the price point you want to spend that you are taking a pass, but to bash them on quality, and say she isn’t really designing them, when you obviously don’t know what you are talking about is just rude IMO. I have purchased clothes from the Seven7 line before and I can tell you they use very nice materials, and are quality construction. And yes, they are somewhat pricey, especially if you are going to compare them to Walmart clothes, OMG, they are not even in the same ballpark. Melissa was given a wonderful opprtunity to design clothes under the Seven label, she explained in her showings that she did go to school for design, and that it was her first love and something she always wanted to do. I think her clothes look so fun and fresh, and yay for us plus sized girls getting cute new things that we want to wear!!
Anyway, I just came on here to say how excited I am by her line! I Love lots of the items, And I was able to order 3 things and am on a wait list for the jogger pants. I can’t wait to get my things I ordered, loved the easy pay options and free shipping, way to go HSN!
I watched the premiere of her line. I thought there were some cute clothes. I was surprised by the prices but I am willing to pay for quality. I tried a tunic top and and a sweater.
The material of the tunic was very heavy and thick. I would have needed to size down but I gave it to my mom who liked it. I thought it looked boxy and shapeless but my mom liked it
very disappointed with the sweater. It cost much more than the tunic and the sweater material is so thin and scratchy. It looked cozy but the quality and price were way off on that one.
Just my experience though. Look forward to hearing others!
