Iman Maxi dress drying question???
For years, I have refused to buy anything that is “Hand Wash, Dry Flat”. But I just couldn’t resist Iman’s maxi dresses. On air, someone said machine wash. Ok, I clenched my tongue and got 2. The tag says hand
wash!! Now what?
How in the world do I hand wash a maxi dress? Tips for easy way of doing it?
Then, how in the world do I “dry flat” a maxi dress?
I’m sure you ladies have tips. 10s of thousands of these have been sold.
Thanks in advance!!
I have the Man dresses. I wash on delicate and hang on a hanger top dry. I hang the hanger over the shower door to dry. I do this with all hand wash items from HSN. I have had to no problems.
Thank you kittengirl!! I was hesitant of hanging, too, The dress is a little heavy.
@lillieboo, A lot of things say hand-wash, hang or lay flat to dry these days. That’s mostly to protect the company just in case something goes wrong. You didn’t say which dress, so I can’t look to see why they might give those instructions. I usually wash things like that in a big lingerie wash bag or a pillow case and, as @kittengirl pointed out, inside out. They come clean, but the bag protects them from the harshness of the agitator. Depending on what it’s made of, you can also probably dry it on low heat. Sweaters are about the only things I dry flat. You should at least be able to dry it some in the dryer before laying it out flat on a bed or something.
The dress is the last Iman’s maxi that was a Today’s Special. As heavy as this dress is, I can only imagine the weight when wet.
Thanks for your time.
I have no intention of hand washing mine! I have a hand-wash cycle in my washing machine but if you don’t, try washing inside out on gentle cycle. I’m sure it will be ok. As for drying, I’m going to hang mine over the shower curtain rod at about half way mark on the dress. I am leery of hanging it on a hanger because I think the fabric might stretch. Hope that helps.
