I HATE SUREPOST aka UNSUREPOST!!!
HSN has some high end items now and the postal thieves wait for that blue and white HSN plastic bag. If I order a 800.00 dollar rarities item or a 500.00 dollar electronic device I do not want it transfered from UPS to the USPS. Seven dollars shipping should get a 5 once peice of jewerly to my home from Florida to NYC. I want my items sent by UPS only! I have had to write up several people at the post office for disappeared packages and package delivered to god only knows where. HSN makes billions in sales and can afford to make sure we receive our orders.
The post office should pay me for all the troubles it causes me. NO MORE UN_ SUREPOST!!!!

I have had multiple issues with Surepost (love the term UNsurepost!) I received a text message from another vendor on a SUNDAY AFTERNOON that my item had just been delivered by USPS – we all know that to be a lie as they do not deliver on Sunday. I happened to be home and checked my front porch but no item. Tried to contact the vendor but was told I needed to look under bushes, etc., because the item may have been hidden. After 48 hours of back and forth, we decided the item was lost and I was offered a refund. About a week later, the item magically appeared on my doorstep, along with another text that the item was delivered. HUH? I order lots of things online and am on good terms with my UPS driver. I am very unhappy about HSN’s switch to surepost. Not only does it add at least 2 days to my already slow delivery time, but I have no way to track the items and make sure they are not sitting outside in the rain for hours or inviting a neighbor to help themselves. And I resent the fact that in order to guarantee UPS delivery I have to upgrade and pay even more. UPS is in my neighborhood (condo community) every single day. There is no reason (other than greed) to switch to the unreliable and unpredictable USPS.
Love my UPS man, and also my Post Man, greet them when your door bell rings, with a Cold Bottle of Water, when it’s boiling hot out, or bring them so cookies to nibble on later, pre packaged, and tip them well for Christmas, it’s not a bribe, to get my merchandise, I feel they have difficult jobs with snow, rain sleet, storms, etc. ((*_*))*??
I have not had a problem receiving packages from any company I order from and I do order from from quite a few. I signed up with UPS My Choice and they e-mail when the package is scanned. I can upgrade for a few dollars more so that the package is not transferred to the USPS. They also e-mail if the package is being transferred to USPS or if UPS will deliver it. To be perfectly honest my mailman is more careful with my packages than UPS, he hides them behind a bush, and rings my door bell. UPS will leave them on the middle of my porch and will not ring the door bell. Yes, I have complained to UPS. Since UPS has e-mailed me when to expect the package I am at home and looking out for the package. UPS also recently sent me an e-mail advising I can use alternative delivery, and I can have package delivered to the post office where they will hold it so I can pick it up or another address.
Since, I am retired I have become the designated alternative delivery person for many of my neighbors, lol but I don’t mind.
It’s a shame that some have had problems with SurePost and while it’s not my favorite thing…it adds a couple days to my delivery time, I have not had a problem with it and would never think to accuse anyone of "stealing" without proof. My Mail carrier and my UPS carrier both, know me and have an understanding with me ahead of time where to leave packages. As the customer, it is up to me to make those arrangements with them.
But the problems that I am reading are with the Post Office or UPS, not HSN. And that being said, they should be addressed with the aforementioned businesses. HSN changing and stopping the use of SurePost is not going to change the problems that people are having with their deliveries. Shipments of items still have to be delivered. Whether they sit a day or two at the Post Office or not, the chance of them being "lost" or otherwise is still going to be there. But to call people thieves…that’s just not right. IMO.
SurePost is a UPS program, not HSN.
If you want your package delivered by UPS, upgrade your shipping. Since UPS increased their costs due to the rising cost of fuel, SurePost is an economical way for package delivery without increasing shipping costs to US, the buyers. SurePost might not work for some and that’s why we have options. Just trying to be helpful with some suggestions. I try to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
If there is a theft problem upon delivery, the problem lies with the customer and the delivery service or the thieves in the neighborhood. I would contact the police rather than the retailer. The retailer’s job is to ship the package and confirm delivery to our doorstep. Yes, some people are dishonest that’s a known fact, but I can’t live my life in paranoia and worry about what could happen, rather than what actually happens.
Here is what is listed about SurePost on the UPS website.
What is UPS SurePost?
UPS SurePost® is an economy, residential, ground service.
This service combines the consistency and reliability of the UPS Ground network with final delivery typically provided by the U.S. Postal Service.
Note: UPS My Choice® Members can upgrade a UPS SurePost package to UPS Ground for an additional fee. Once upgraded, Members can use the features available with their Membership to reschedule or redirect delivery to an alternate address or to The UPS Store®. And upgraded packages typically arrive one day earlier.

I work in LP and I have seen employees of 15+ years being fired for theft. Some get a new job to steal, and do it within their first week… All people have various reasons to do things they do. Some think it is justified, some think it is profitable. Some are bald and obnoxious and some feel like they have no other option… The only thing in common they have- they regret being cought. I cannot read minds, and I do not know if they sincerely regret stealing. I am not a counselor, so it is not my place to get into depth of their souls to see if there is hope and light under surface. I do not judge by appearance. Sometimes the sweetest looking people do things they shouldn’t and I wouldn’t have guessed if I didn’t know any different. I am merely an observer. I do not attact or repell flies or thiefs… The thing I learned is that you can never completely trust people you think you know very well. And real life thiefs do not wear cartoonish masks and striped outfits. They wear normal, even conservative clothes and do not stand out. It comes as a shock, but alas, nothing is certain in our lives.
Back to subject. It is a valid concern that the more people handle our packages – the more chances someone might mishandle them. Thank you to Lady4Peace and Fashionista9 for voicing this problem and caring to make it known. This problem does exist.
Of course, people in the service industry perform their jobs with or without additional compensation. However, everyone enjoys a token of appreciation. Spreading a little love with a smile is contagious. They remember my small acts of kindness. My mom always said you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Develop relationships with your delivery drivers and you’re no longer a name and address. Heck, I ordered a sewing machine from HSN and the outer box was marked Singer. My UPS man came back a second time on the same day to deliver. I wasn’t home the first time and this was before he had my key less entry code. He didn’t want to leave an expensive box on my porch. Without a relationship, I doubt he would have made such an effort.
I think it is wonderful that some can form a relationship with their service people. It is great that friendships develop and grattitude is given as well as received. However, GRATUITY is not a mandatory thing for doing your job. I have no idea who picks up my garbage; who services my lawn, who deliveres my mail, who drops off packages and I do not go fishing with local sheriff. I am not obligated to trace my correspondence all over town. There are honest and dishonest people at any job. No, I do not feel like I MUST be friends with mailperson to have them NOT steal my mail. I am not even home most of the time when these services are rendered and I only LET them in when they have to go in. If I ever become friends with any of them it will be for their personal merits, not out of fear of being ripped off.
Surepost raises some other concerns, however. Stuff like Vitamines and cosmetics do not do well in summer heat. I have not have trouble with stealing packages YET, but Surepost adds 2-3 days at least to my deliveries. It would be nice if some of these concerns were addressed by HSN rather sooner than later. Thank you.
Anytime I have a problem or concern the supervisor of my Post Office lives
right across the street from me. We wave every day. I did have a couple of
issues and now things are fine.
My mail person rings the doorbell and I have the dog from….:smileysurprised:
They know to leave my packages.:catlol:
I believe Merce3 is correct about why a package might be transferred to SurePost. My
UPS man stated the same. If they don’t have other deliveries on your route, the package is transferred to the post office. Another option is to pay a couple dollars more and upgrade your shipping. I have done this with a few of the more expensive items because I was excited and couldn’t wait 🙂
I think many retailers are using SurePost, which sounds like a cost saving method for UPS. I am fortunate because my UPS man has our keyless entry code and stacks packages inside our garage. He has been our UPS man for 15 years. In the event he is on vacation and I am away, I use an alternate shipping address or ask a neighbor to run over and grab the package. Last, I always remember my UPS, Mailman and Fedex drivers at Christmas with a gift card or cash. By showing my appreciation and respect for the job they do, I believe they take extra care with my packages. Just some suggestions that might help 🙂
Guys, Iam really sorry you are having problems with deliveries. But UPS is not a guarantee that your items will arrive safely. It is especially disappointing if you got a good deal, or something that sold out…
Why are we told that things WILL BE delivered by UPS…then the "smoke and mirrors" with Surepost? I look on the HSN site all the time to see exactly when my pkgs are to arrive. Well, guess what?! There’s usually a message from UPS that says ‘since we’ll be in your area we will be delivering your packages". THAT’S a FLAT OUT LIE. UPS is in this area every day as I see their trucks! Why aren’t we told the truth?! I’d even been told by an HSN customer service person that all I needed to do was call UPS and let them know I want them to be delivering my packages due to the difficulty with Surepost". I DID AS INSTRUCTED…and the information I was told was NOT TRUE. In order for this to happen, I would need to pay more $. I was shocked as HSN’s policy was it’d be sent through UPS.
I, in NO WAY, blame the HSN customer service folks. I believe that’s what they are told and just "pass on" this information. PLEASE…HSN get this straighted out. I’ve even re-purchased something that was STOLEN due to it being delivered by Surepost. As I’d stated in another post, Surepost had "verification" as they had written "pkg was left in the garage". I DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE. This was not the first time such "verification" was thrown in my face.
It takes an extra 2 days because most of the time it has to get transferred to 2 post offices before it finally gets to me…Lands End does the same thing now. The UPS truck goes by my home EVERYDAY so thats crap what they tell you about the UPS routes !! I am guessing the post office gets some sort of money towards delivery at a discounted price to the senders so they continue to use them
I agree with you 1000%!
