Help w Rhonda Shear sizing….First time poster :)
I was wondering if anyone could help me with sizing for Rhonda Shear with the today’s special?
According to the on air presentation, they say to order bras in the same size as your shirt size.
I recently lost a bit of weight, I always wore 2x, now I’m barely even a 1x anymore and am currently wearing an XL top at the moment now.
However, one thing I did not lose much of in my weight loss is my bust size. So I measured according to their sizing chart for this bra at 46″ across my bust (I’m a 42DD) This measure makes me a 2x in this bra according to the sizing charts.
On air, they said don’t worry about your bra size and just go with your shirt size, however, I’m afraid if I go with my XL shirt size, it will be too small. Yet if I go with my 46″ bust size with the 2x, I worry I won’t get any support.
Yet, on reviews of her other bras, I read that a lot of people complain of sizing being too small and them having to go up a size or two and reorder. Ugh….
Funny enough, for bottoms, I measure the same in pants size and same in her sizing chart at XL with both matching each other in size, no problem.
So does anyone here have any suggestions as which way to go?
I just want to order ASAP before colors nad bottoms to match the today’s special start to run out.
I thank you all for helping me, I hope my first post is ok! Christy (if my name shows Don, that’s my husband!)
Christy, thanks so much for your reply! I just now saw both of your new posts. None of us receives reply posts directly … we can read only what is posted here.
I think @thisgoesto11 nailed the size advice! I am glad your bra size worked out; now if the hosts and Rhonda will read your post and advise buyers accordingly! 🙂 It looks like the measurement chart worked, but not the “shop your top” advice.
Yes, I’d call Customer Service and order the size bottoms you want, and hold on to the first ones you received. You’ll have time to compare the new shipment and return the ones that don’t fit as well. I’m sure Customer Service will give you the right advice. Hoping they will also waive any return fee. You’ll need to ask for that, though.
I’m not sure if I can answer your questions, but my experience (with the Ahh Bras) is if the cups are initially too small (you will know because you will come out of the sides of the cups), you will just push it all back inside the cups (from the sides), and the cups will relax enough to accommodate. This “accommodation” is temporary. After you wash it, it will snap back pretty much to the original size.
If the bra is too large, it will be looser around the band area and you won’t feel “supported.” You’ll feel kind of “floppy” but I don’t think it will ever “hang” off you. There’s a lot of elastic “spring back,” regardless of the size, even if it’s a size too large.
I think you should go with the size you ordered. If it doesn’t fit, I bet there will be exchanges and returns and you can exchange for a different size. If there’s a color you really like and it’s available now, especially with the matching bottoms, I’d personally go ahead and get the set because the price goes up at midnight on the TS and maybe on the bottoms, too. (I don’t know the answer to whether these are ever restocked.)
Yes, I think it’s probably better to err on the side of too large a size than too small a size., especially if you are larger-busted. This was @thisgoesto11‘s advice, and I’d go with that.
Hi MSLOMO! I replied to your last message just a short while ago, but I think I forgot to hit “reply” by your name and still being new to this community board, wasn’t sure if had to do that or not, so there is a new message here if you wish to read it but just not sure if it went to you directly or not. I just wanted to make sure you saw my thank you as I got my bras today and you helped me out a lot! 😊 Christy
Hi MSLOMO and everyone else that helped me out a few days ago,
I just wanted to let you know that I received my bras and they fit! Thank you so much for all of your help or I’m sure I would of ordered the wrong size!
To be honest,Rhonda Shear and HSN should NOT advertise these bras as by the same size of your shirt, because if I did that, I would of been 2-3 sizes too SMALL on top! I think if they stopped advertizing that way, they would not have all of the people who complain that their bras are too small and need to now return, and some never wanting to buy again as they say in their reviews.
Even though I’m an L-XL shirt size now, I measured with a tape measure and my size matched with 2X! And that is why I worried at first knowing I was 2/3 sizes off of what they suggest by ordering your shirt size, but thank goodness I took all your recommendations and went with the tape measure size chart fit and not with the host suggestions!
And funny enough, in the matching underwear, I fell right in between measurements with the hip measurement, for size L bottoms it’s measurements say 41- 42 1/2″ and XL is 44/45 1/2″. I measure 43″, right in the middle, but figured I should go with the XL as any size complaints were about Rhonda’s being too small if anything. However, the XL does seem to be a little big around the waist, and I am thinking of maybe returning the bottoms and going with the L, however, i worry because all the XL underwear sizes are sold out, so If I return my XLs and then get the L and they are too small, I cannot get the XL back, I wonder if HSN would send me out the L and give me a few days to send back the XL until I receive the Ls in the mail?
Anyway, my point why I bring up the underwear is that I seem to be an L on my bottoms of Rhonda’s yet my top fit of hers are 2X! So if anyone reading this plans to purchase from her, or at least in this style of tops and bottoms, PLEASE go with your natural tape measure measurents and NOT their suggestions of shirt size, even if your bottoms and top measurements are 2-3 sizes different from one another like me!!!! You know, when they said if your a Large shirt size, whether your a 38A or 38DDD, if you were a L top you are still going to be a L, I thought that was a little crazy to believe. I’m so glad I took your advice!! Again, Thanks so much for the help everybody! Christy
Ps, if your u need to know for comparison, my bra size is 42DD if that helps out anyone who order theses.
Christy! Oh, good! I’ll go to the Customer Service thread to see what Brian said — always helps to learn! Regarding your questions:
“even though I got free shipping with my order, if I have to send back an exchange, do they cover the shipping of do I?” YES, they will cover the s/h for the exchange, but you have to call Customer Service first so they can program your EZ Return sticker that’s part of your receipt. Let them know how hard it was to figure out your size and that you do not want to pay for the exchange. (Customer Service is great, so I predict no problems!)
“And, will they send the new size out right away while before they receive my returns?” YES, they will send quickly, and you have something like 15 days (not positive about the number of days) to get your exchange back to them, just in case you want to see first how the new size works out before actually returning the original item.
Glad you are set!
Thank you MSLOMO! (Just realized you can reply directly to a person’s reply!)
I really really hope I won’t need to return. I just find it so hard to believe that they claim a 38A who wears a large shirt, is the same large size as someone who is 38DDD who wears a large shirt! I really wish they has some 2x-3x or even 1x models up there to show the larger breasted figures. It makes me wonder why they don’t have anyone portraying those larger sizes?
But it sounds like if it’s bigger than need be, it is not as bad as if it was smaller than need be?
I’m glad I got the underwear early because almost all of them are sold out in XL bottoms, except for the one color I didn’t buy yet that I did want, the Harvest Festival, and wondering if I should quickly just buy that last set of tops and bottoms too! But wondering if I should even try to buy a 1x top to just to see or not mess with it and just get it in 2x like I’m measuring. This is probably the first time I am hoping I fit in a larger size of something than of a smaller! LOL!
Now, if it is on the tighter side, when it comes to someone with bigger cups, does this bra tend to “overflow” the extra breast, or ” in” the extra chest?
You said they do stretch eventually to fit you, but, do they stretched out? They claim not to, I’m just hoping if in the small chance it is a little too big, it doesn’t get bigger and even if a little big, it will still snug up to me a bit.
I guess I’m just looking for hope that I picked the write one in 2x. If it is a little big, how do you think it would affect my fit?
Again, sorry for all my questions! I never spent so much at one time on intimates as usually intimates are so hard to size out of hand, and I really hope I’m lucky, especially if I talk myself into the Harvest Festival.
After a special sells out, does she ever restock the sold out sizes after the sale?
Ok, promise no more questions for you! Thank you VERY MUCH!!!! Christy
PS! After posting my message, I got an HSN alert that I posted words not allowed and that they removed them from my post? LOL! NOt sure what was bad?
Wow, did not check auto correct! What came out as ” what parents some beans” should of been “what keeps me from wearing new smaller shirt sizes” not sure why those words came out! Ha!
Sorry I missed my thank you to you!!!! I think the QVC Brian guy responded under Customer support to my message, not here, and I missed your reply when writing back!
I feel so much better after reading your info that I did good probably picking the 2x. Like you mentioned, my confusion was in the bra strap size, as from watching the tv, claiming its your shirt size made it seem like you are picking more to your bra band size than the acutal FULL bust size and that is why I was confused, because if I did go with just my band, I would of been an XL like they suggest, so thought maybe I was doing this wrong.
Again, like I said above, I don’t understand how I didn’t lose any chest, and how I actually appear bigger in the chest than before I lost all the weight! And wearing new smaller sizes, what parents some beans from fitting me is not my waist or hips but actually the fullness of my chest with an underwire bra on, so maybe these new bras will help to tame my bust down a bit so I can wear some smaller tops that my bust can fit in,
Thanks again so much thisgoesto11! Christy
Thank you all for your help! I wound up ordering really early AM because I wanted to get them in time for the matching panties before any sold out, and I wound up getting the Stormy Skies and Enchanted Forrest in 2x tops and both the same colors in XL bottoms. So I got 4 sets in total. To be honest, I probably could of gotten the bottoms in a L but I didn’t want to chance it,
I just went with my bust measurement for the tops and hope all will work out, I’ve never had a bra be too big really, so I hope my gut works.
I keep saying I should get the 1x just as back up, but then I’m still kicking myself I didn’t get the Autumn color set, and so on and so on until I spend more than I should! So I just hope those sizes stay in stock, I figured it was more important to get the matching panties that they did not make as many pairs of as the bras.
Believe it or not, out of all my MANY HSN years, ive never Down any intimates, so thank you for the help! Now even though I got free shipping with my order, if I have to send back an exchange, do they cover the shipping of do I?
And, will they send the new size out right away while before they receive my returns? I ask because I would hate to wait for them to receive my return and then the size sell out.
Thanks again so much Brian and for all your help!!!! (Sorry Brian you got stuck answering a lady’s bust size question, LOL!)
MSLOMO, thank you so much for all your info and for your personal experience! Yeah, to be honest, I’m very surprised with all my weight loss that the chest has not lost any bra sizing! I don’t get it! I should not complain, but I was hoping to bump down at least a little bit in the chest!
To be honest, my current bras really seem to make me look even a bigger size than before I lost weight, and really pushing me out (I don’t get how I can lose weight and acutally look bigger in just the chest??), so hopefully these bras will be good as to “tame” my bust a little bit.
From what it sounds though, it seems to be better if bigger than smaller in these?
Thanks again so much for all your help! Christy
Hi, Christy, and welcome!
I agree with @thisgoesto11 that you shouldn’t expect “support” from this bra, especially if you are large-busted. These bras stretch, and the cups will stretch out, too. This bra is nylon/spandex, so you will experience stretch. However, I see that the spandex content in the body of the bra is 4%, which is not as stretchy as her 7% spandex bras.
When you first put it on, you may think it will never fit, that it’s too tight; but if you will wear it for a bit, it will stretch out to accommodate your cup size. That’s been my experience when I was afraid I’d ordered too small. I wasn’t patient the first couple of times, and I took it off immediately and returned.
It’s a challenge to figure out sizing pretty much across-the-board when ordering online, but especially with Rhonda Shear bras. I looked at the sizing chart, and there are two columns for 1X/2X, so I am confused about what size you should order. Some of her sizing for Today’s Specials have been really “off,” while others have been more successful, so if a size doesn’t work out, it is not necessarily because you chose the wrong size.
I suggest that you buy two sizes — or three sizes if you can swing the initial cost. I suggest buying one 2X, one 1X, and one XL (especially if you are continuing to lose weight). Given the confusion in the size chart, I would call Customer Service to get their advice and also to ask if HSN will waive return shipping for the ones that do not fit. (Get the name of the CS rep if he or she says yes.)
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy … it’s a very pretty bra!
I was a 46 bust, 40D bra, size 2X. I’m currently a 44 bust, 40C bra, size XL. Based on my experience with the Ahh bras, I say go with the 2X as recommended by the chart. Full-busted women shouldn’t expect full support. As the most, it’ll give you enough lift so that you won’t be able to hold a pencil tucked under your bust, but it won’t hold you high and you will bounce. Also, if you have rolls around your torso at or directly under the bra, the band won’t lie flat.
I think some people mistakenly use their band size as a measurement rather than their full bust measurement, and that’s how they end up with too small a size. I feel these bras are more forgiving if you buy too large rather than too small.
